Before April 2003, this site was running on a Pentium III 600MHz with 512MB of memory. HPANA was not even six months old then, but it was becoming more popular faster than we anticipated. Month-over-month growth was astounding, each one breaking the record of the previous.
It became clear the server would not support the growing number of visitors it was receiving, so Server Fund 1 was started and collected $95 from fewer than 10 contributors. With an additional $425 from the site's owner, the following equipment was purchased:
