Potions - we must think alike - Alan and Dr Spencer Reid!
Reid is a cutie...and smart!
I didn't want to sound like some old "fuddy-duddy" about the language in L A, but I was just cringing with the little boy hearing such things, even though it is just a movie. Also, the girl who worked in the Prime Minister's office had quite a dirty mouth and, in the scene toward the end where the PM showed up at her door, she used several of her favorite bad words in front of numerous children. Oddly enough, they were all going to a Christmas program!
I realize this is an R rated movie, so hopefully no children (other than the cast members) will be viewing it. I hope those kids didn't see some parts of that movie!!

Some really good movies could be viewed by older kids if they would clean up the language. Every mother has to do what she feels right, but I didn't want my youngsters hearing some of the things out there. In my humble opinion, too much too soon can desensitize a child. Be it language, violence, or sex, it needs to be age appropriate.
Of course, the greatest influence should come from the home and not movies etc. Enough said! Now I will get off my soap box!

I've always wondered about all the hype around Groundhog Day, because it isn't the official end of winter until March 20th and that's 6 weeks away anyway. I found out a bit about GHog Day, for any of you who may be interested. Groundhog Day, which began as a Pennsylvania German custom in southeastern and central Pennsylvania in the 18th and 19th centuries, has its origins in ancient European weather lore, wherein a badger or sacred bear is the prognosticator as opposed to a groundhog....and that's your lesson for the day! I guess the teacher in me just can't resist.

Anastasia, hope school is going well. You sound very busy!

I have to agree that Alan is too distinguished for some roles. I have not read Twilight or seen the film, but I do know what it is about. I can't imagine Alan in any of it!

Good evening to all.

I must add that I am so thrilled to be at the top of a new page! Wow!

Ahhh yes!! He is my favorite! I ♥ him. Everyone in this thread probably gets tired of me talking about him. But I do talk about him a lot. :D Actually, I love everyone on that show. The whole cast is amazing.

Also, the girl who worked in the Prime Minister's office had quite a dirty mouth and, in the scene toward the end where the PM showed up at her door, she used several of her favorite bad words in front of numerous children. Oddly enough, they were all going to a Christmas program!
Yeah, I'm only uptight about a few bad words, and I thought Natalie's language was quite funny (even the line about the coat), but yeah, not in front of the kids.

And I agree with a lot of what you said on your soap box! Hehe.

I have to agree that Alan is too distinguished for some roles. I have not read Twilight or seen the film, but I do know what it is about. I can't imagine Alan in any of it!
Hear, hear!

Knowing that not all of you visit Snape's thread as frequently as here, I thought I'd pop in and show my Snape shirt that I just found. Hehe, I'm quite proud of myself for finding it, after two years of it being lost. Anyway...

Here he is!! Well, that's the close up of it anyway. Just a plain black shirt with that (gorgeous) image on the front, so I figured you could run over to the other thread to see the whole shirt, if you really wanted too.

So, how are all of you, what's going on? I'm afraid I've been out of here too long again.

Speaking of Alan films, has anyone else seen The Bottle Shock? I just saw Something the Lord Made yesterday! Oh, was it good! I cried! I smiled (at Alan, of course). And of course, Im now completely obsessed with Sweeney Todd, I got the soundtrack as well, oh hes such a good singer! At least, good enough. But I wouldnt have guessed that Depp would have such a good singing voice either. Really, my favorite singers in the film are the younger actors... that little boy can really sing. I want to see some more Alan pics! haha. This is the place I find the best ones. Everywhere else I look, I see all the ones Ive already seen posted here. :P Miss ya'll! G'night!

Toby is very talented, but Anthony is my favorite! :D But actually I think they all sing well. I'm impressed by Johnny Depp's voice, but not surprised because he can do anything.
Alan's voice is nice too of course. :)

Good afternoon! I have a moment and thought I would pop in.
Kasaraem - the shirt is neat! Toss it in the dryer on low and some of the wrinkles may come out.
I remember being very impressed with Johnny and Alan's singing when I saw ST for the first time. I would agree with Potions about Anthony - he was amazing! Such a pure voice. Everyone did a great job with the singing and that is a good thing because the movie WAS a musical. Yes, Johnny can do anything...what an actor!
Johnny and Alan in the same film is almost more than the senses can bear!
twilightlebeau, hello! I have not seen Bottle Shock but will be seeing it tonight or tomorrow (DVD rental).
It is available now! I'll let you know what I think.

Potions - do you mind my asking if the picture shown is a picture of you? If so, you have a beautiful smile!
If this is NOT your photo, please forgive me!
I'll really feel stupid if the photo is someone I should recognize. Oh well, best to appear stupid among other Alan fans! You're an understanding lot.

Have a good day everyone.

Hello everyone! Hope you all have had a good week so far. Exams are over for me and it's snowing slightly here *yay!*

Em - I have that shirt too! and you can bet I'm wearing it to the opening night of HBP!

Not much time at the moment, so I just wanted to give a quick post and a picture :-)

Really can't remember where I found this one or which play it is from:

Johnny and Alan in the same film is almost more than the senses can bear!
And they'll do it again with Alice in Wonderland! :D

I have not seen Bottle Shock but will be seeing it tonight or tomorrow (DVD rental).

I didn't know it was on DVD already! Cool...now when will I rent it, that is the question.

Oh, you mean my display pic? Haha, no. (Don't worry, I'm not laughing at you -- it's hard to tell when it's cropped so close.) It's actually a guy, and I am not a guy. ;) It's the actor Taylor Lautner portraying Jacob Black in the Twilight movie. (And no, I'm not really a Twilight fan, just a Jacob fan, haha.)

This is me, though.

Yay for finishing your exams, Nimbus! Now you can relax! :D

You DO have a beautiful smile, even if I had the wrong picture. I hope that did not offend you in any way.
To tell you the truth, I have been trying to figure out if the display pic was a really good looking guy or a very pretty girl. I can see why you like Taylor Lautner!

He has quite an interesting ancestry and is part Native American - hence the dark features and good looks.
I have something in common with Taylor - we are both University of Texas football fans!

Nimbus - so happy for you that your exams are over!!
You deserve a break now.

I had better run! I plan on watching Bottle Shock tonight.

Aww thanks! It's not the most flattering picture of me, but I was wearing my Snape shirt (which I made myself hehe), so it was relevant to the thread. ;)

Haha. That's cute. Apparently I like guys who are very pretty like that. (But not typical "pretty boys." Does that make sense? Well, some of them...) ;)

Have fun watching Bottle Shock! Let us know how it was!

Potions - I remember that shirt! (and I think we have the same snowman ornament that on the tree in the blackground *laughs*)

Huffles (as I shall now call you, if that's ok) - did you get a chance to watch Bottle Shock? Was it good?

Huffles sounds great to me! Thanks for giving me a name!

Yes, I did watch Bottle Shock and I am sorry I did not get a chance to leave a message before now.
It is good, quite good.
Of course, it is a different type movie than Harry Potter and some of Alan's other films, but he can so superbly become whatever character he is portraying, that I was not surprised to see him do it once again. He has a different physical look as well, but the look fits the character!

In Bottle Shock he is British-born, Paris-based wine merchant Steven Spurrier, who organizes a wine tasting event. He is somewhat a pompous snob, but a funny one!
The film is "loosely" based on an actual 1976 wine tasting event - but I don't want to tell you too much and give away anything! I can't say it is my favorite Alan film, but it is very good nonetheless.

Potions and Nimbus - You won't believe this, but I also have the same snowman ornament!!
Potions - your shirt is really neat! Good job!

Hope everyone had a great week-end. It is drawing to a close and a new work/school week beginning.
Life moves along, doesn't it? Sometimes way too fast!

My good ol' Snape shirt...I haven't worn it in a while; I need to remedy that. Haha that ornament. It was given to my mom by someone, maybe my grandma. I think it's one of our less pretty ornaments, but that's ok. ;) That's funny that both of you have it!

Huffles is a cute nickname! :D I'm glad you enjoyed Bottle Shock. I've been hearing good reviews from Alan fans, so I'll sure have to see it soon.

your shirt is really neat! Good job!
Thanks!

Is that his autograph? Lots of points - means he's angry. (Passionate perhaps? I reserve the right to editorialize.) The little A to begin his first name means he thinks of himself as less important than others. It comes up again with the L being the same size as the other short letters - he doesn't want his individuality to stand out. The flourish in the R means he thinks his family is more important. So as an actor, the cast as a whole is more important than his individual performance. However, the flourish with the K means he wants to stand out and be noticed within the family, as does the underline. The closed S's means he closes himself off from the world. The combination of script and print means he's artistic, backed up again in the flourished R. The connected letters show he is connected with the people in his world. The general illegibility that is still not impossible to read means that he likes to challenge people before divulging his secrets. The openness of the A's in his first name mean that he's open in his personal life, and then the closed A in the last name means he's closed in his public life. Interesting...

You just reminded me of my aunt there hehehe. She's just about the same. She only lets me borrow things because she knows I take care of them!

Hey ya'll! Lovely evening. It keeps snowing. Well, I got to see Something the Lord Made recently! I thought it was pretty good. As it goes, it turns out to be another Alan character that I wasn't particularly fond of, like in Love Actually... but of course, I always love watching Alan perform. I like his character in Bottle Shock, pompous but sorta comical. And Bill Pullman plays off him well, I think. I need to watch another Alan film! In a way I can't bear watching Sweeney Todd because Alans character is so despicable... so detestable as a human being... but he's so good to look at *blush* hehe! I could watch Truly, Madly, Deeply, or I could dig into my collection somewhere and pull out Die Hard or just watch Harry Potter again. Or I could settle for just the voice and watch HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy... ah the vast number of choices! Thats it, time to go dvd shopping... :D

I still love this pic...

Where IS everyone?!?! Don't you realize what day it will be tomorrow?!?! What happen to the picture contest from last year?!?! Aw, man, I was looking forward to it. Not so much competing in it, I've got too much happening, but I wanted to see what you guys came up with (Heck, I wouldn't mind just seeing the pics from last year again). Ah, well, I guess (I hope!!) you'll all be in tomorrow. Otherwise, I'm gonna look like a real nutter to mom, by myself, watching Alan movies all day...
