Ain't It Cool News has posted an account
from someone who has apparently seen some footage from the film version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban:
Gary Oldman as Sirius is as described in book - really greasy long black hair and shabby clothes. The werewolf is enormous and the different heads for the transformation are quite horrific. The animagus Sirius is also huge and effective, with someone inside controlling the animatronics.

Wow very cool article. I can't wait until movie 3 comes out. Unfortunally it will be a very long wait but hey, what can you do.
I thought that there were going to be quidditch scenes in the movie. At least that's what I heard.

How can there not be Quiddich in the movie - it is an important part of the book - Harry has to fall off his broom and have it get broken so he can get the firebolt and need to learn how to defend himself against the dementors and hear his mother's voice. Also if they don't do the bit where they win the quiddich cup I will be very disapointed as that is my favorite part of the book.

I heard that they cut Quidditch too, but then I thought Radcliff mention it was in the film in an interview he did. I can understand them cutting all the hype over the cup, Quidditch was already cut down in the previous movies. My sisters (who are too young to read the books and too hyper to sit and listen to them) thought the only two houses with teams were Slytherin and Gryffindor. And that they had one game a year against each other. So cutting the Quidditch Cup's significance doesn't affect movie continuity (besides, Wood isn't going to be there and he was the one so nutty about it). But they have to at least keep in the match where his broom is destroyed. It's too important.

I was very saddened when I heard Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood) wasn't going to be in this movie - because that meant either they totally or mostly cut back Quidditch, or that they just cut his part. Each are equally bad, since I personally found the Quidditch scenes in the movies to be very exciting, great parts of the films.
If they cut Biggerstaff's role but still plan to have the Quidditch Cup, that's just stupid. Wood was in the first two movies, and it's his last year at Hogwarts for this one - why have him in the first two if he can't even culminate the role?
As long as the rest of the story is intact, I guess I'm okay with no Quidditch. Can't wait to see Gary Oldman play Black - I love him (The Fifth Element, Lost In Space).

I heard that the only reason Cho Chang isn't supposed to be in the 3rd movie is because the cut quidditch, but thats ridiculus. Like CarolAlutius said, Quidditch has a huge role in the 3rd book. They even win the quidditch cup for the first time in years. And yeah, Harry learns to fight off the dementors because of quidditch. He asked Lupin to help him make a patronus so that he could ward of the dementors in the game because they couldn't lose the cup.. I hope they're only joking with us and they did put quidditch in the movie.

I also am excited to see David Thawlis *ms?* as Lupin as he is my next favorite...THEY better not cut out quidditch! thats the best part of the book...well other then sirius being in the book but ANYWAY...they better not...

Newt Scamander says:
If they cut out Quidditch, they'll have to reinvent the story of the Firebolt, Harry will have to use his first real Patronus some other way, and they'll have to use a different way to continue the hyping of the Grim throughout the whole movie. One of the best things about the third book (which is my favorite) is the constant feeling that the Grim could appear anywhere, and the constant lingering of death throughout the whole book. One cut of the Grim, and that effect is lost for part of the movie unless they use a different type of scare (maybe a focus on Divination lessons).

They could always just cut in during the middle of a quidditch game...then they wouldn't have to even show Wood not being there. Then they could show Harry falling off the broom...but like Newt Scamander mentioned, they would have to put in some other way for Harry to produce his first real Patronus. I highly doubt that they would show Harry producing the first real one when he's watching himself with all the dementors.
I also agree with Cheeser about being anxious to see Gary Oldman as Black...he was absolutely awesome in The Professional. Something so mysterious and dark about him...VERY good casting decision, IMHO.

It would be horrible if there were no Quidditch. However, they have to cut out chunks of the book in order to keep the time length within 3 hours. I wouldn't mind no Cho Chang though, as she's my least favorite character. No Sean? Say it ain't so! Are they trying to save money by cutting another actor out? I mean, even if there was no Quidditch he could at least walk through the picture or something ;-) All in all, though, I am so looking forward to this movie as the thrid book is my favorite of the series. I am so pathetic, I can't wait for the dumb Matrix movie to come out just so I can see the trailer! I can't wait for Sirius and Lupin to come in as I love those characters! Oh, it's gonna be awesome!

Well, I think that WB won't cut Quidditch from HP, 'cause it's something really important and the plot it's almost around our favorite wizard sport.
Everyone, let's trust in my countryman (Alfonso Cuaron) and all the HP's movies team, the have done an amazing job, and remember, Daniel Radcliffe said ina an interview that we could see Quidditch in HP3.
I think that the cast is perfect, but I see that the time is running out and we don't know who will perfom Trelawney, and it's more possible that they cut Trelawney part than the Quidditch part.

I think it would be great if the trailer had a Quidditch scene in it just to settle this argument.
Darn, though, there's so much that is needed for continuity to the later books, too. Cho doesn't have to show up in 3 but I think she needs to be in 4 or else they should just cut Cho out of all the movies.... As far as the Trelawney part, the Second Prediction probably needs to be there, but that requires developing another character throughout the movie... Ugh.
Already the whole Shrieking Shack and Time Turner scenes are probably going to take a minimum of thirty minutes, maybe closer to 45. That only leaves a couple hours to get through all the plot clues.

The movie sounds incredible. Anxiously counting down the days!! My best friend and I already know that we will start crying when we see Sirius for the first time (sniff, sniff). :)
The casting is spot-on for this movie, and it sounds like the effects are going to be even better than the last movie. Gary Oldman is a terrific actor - he will make a perfect Black.
I am really hoping they keep the scene where Harry, Ron, and Hermione knock out Snape and Hermione cries, "We attacked a teacher . . . we attacked a teacher. We're going to be in so much trouble."
Less than a year now . . .

FIRST: this movie's going to be great-the best so far i think!! CAN'T WAIT!!
SECOND: I doubt if they can cut Quidditch completely out of the movie, because as mentioned above, many events crucial to the plot take place either during Quidditch or in relation to Quidditch. The Grim appears during Quidditch, the dementors appear, Harry loses his Nimbus 2000: all things which are crucial in advancing the plot in the movie. Like Newt Scamander said, the fact that the Grim and the dementors could appear during the Quidditch matches anytime really works to give the movie that suspensful edge that so makes it worth watching.
I hope that the whole Grim/Dementors thing, regarding Quidditch doesn't turn out like the Basilisk attacks in the second movie--they weren't suspensful enough and there wasn't enough gravity placed on them, which really took away from the overall level of enjoyment in the movie. For example, when McGonagall, in the CoS movie came, for the first time ever into the common room mind you, to announce that the school would be closed if the attacker was not found, there was absolutely no suspense at all. It just flopped. In the book, that was a very suspensful moment.
This unfortunately is one of the downfalls of cinema-novel interpretation: you can't have a 17 hour movie! But, i still think, that you can make a very decent and enjoyable movie without the entire Quidditch sections, but with only the crucial parts. Remember in the CoS film, the Quidditch match started after Slytherin had scored 80 points? They have to make clean transitions into the Quidditch matches so that the plot elements can be satisfied (grim/dementors/loss of broom) within a reasonable time frame, which, if they're following this (which i think they are) would result in the cut of Sean Biggerstaff aka Oliver Wood.
ps. i hope all of this made sense.

How can they have no Quidditch Scenes? How would they introduce Cho? They also finally win the Quidditch cup. I was wondering how long the 4th and 5th book are going to be because the 2nd movie is over 2 hours and half their sizes. How would they do that? Have 2 movies or one super movie?

ooo how exciting, I have to admit I checked out the cast on that movie database, and I think Oldman will be fab as Sirius. Its funny, I never liked the first movie (too much of the Williamson soundtrack pounding over everything) but I think also my expectations were kind of high. The second one I just saw for the first time and loved it so much I watched it twice in 2 days.
3 Sounds great, I can't make the link work unfortunately.

About the teaser trailer, well I don't think that we could see anything about Quidditch or FX stuff, 'cause remember CoS teaser trailer, it didn't have anything with FX, just a few parts of what they had filmed and stuff like that, I hope that WB executives release a trailer with Matrix Revolutions 'cause a lot of people will go to the movies for that movie and they can start to create an atmosphere about the movie since that day

Well, i've read a couple of interviews (from mugglent.com) that said they are INDEED keeping the quidditch scenes *breathes sigh of relief* I'm also extremely disappointed that Wood isn't going to be in the movie...I know his role isn't crucial, but still...he's a great character and it's his last year! I wanna see him elated when they win the Quidditch cup!
And I can't WAIT to see Gary Oldman as Sirius..does anyone know if/when the clip will be posted..I know SOMEONE has to have it...

First off, from the article (however poorly written it was), the third movie sounds like it will live up to its book counterpart better than the first two did (in my opinion, they were good interpretations, but not great).
Second off, JaneGrey - This is only feature that the common rooms have right now. I'm not sure when the staff will get to adding more parts to it...nudge nudge wink wink.

Padfoot5312 - I believe I remember reading in the article something about the clips being shown at a half-way production party, or something like that. So they're either half-way done filming it, or half-way done making the whole thing. I would think it was the filming one because of the release date (I think it's sometime in June 2004.)
