Our amazing moderator Anita has obtained a very recent on-set photo of Alan Rickman, Rupert Grint and Gary Oldman
. Rickman is standing in back, out of costume, Grint has some sort of dirt on his chin, and Oldman has long, dark, shaggy hair!

I think Gary Oldman is a dead ringer for Sirius in that picture - including the beird and the grey hair (actually the hair should be waist long). He's just been in Azkaban for I forgot how many years - he should look pretty awful.
I thought that Sirius in his younger years would have been too vain to have tatoos. I can't but help think that JK has a lot to do with these films and that the tatoos are there for a reason. Maybe it is a Phoenix sign? Like the deatheaters have a sign for Voldermort? Or maybe you get a tatoo when you enter Azkaban?
O and doesn't Ron look awfully cute, as always.

Well, he isn't really what I pictured,mainly because of the tatoos. In the books Sirius didn't have tatoos, but maybe they thought it would make him cooler or scarer or something. I know he had some hair on his face, but I don't think it was a full beird, more like stuble, you know. And his hair should be black, not brown, although it may look different during scenes, and they lightened so you could tell he was there or something, seeing as much, well all really is set at night when it is dark. But it may not of been my picture of him, he still looks good.
Now, I want to see what David Thewlis looks like as Lupin.

I guess the tatoos are just poetic license for the character. Some sort of magical identification of prisoners? Somehow I can't imagine wizards with tatoos.
But we shall see if Mr. Oldman can put a voice to Sirus as he is portrayed in POA.

But, this will do, he looks friendly despite his ragged appearance, yet his appearance is enough that he ought to be able to come across as the villian at least until the Shrieking Shack explanation.

I think that the beard on Gary Oldman is ok, but the tatoos really bother me. There are too many of them and they don't seem like something Sirius' character would do. Why would his prison outfit be so torn up? I can understand worn, but torn up in front kinda makes me wonder.

Please remember, guys... This is a picture of some people standing on a street. It is not what the "final product" will look like at all. I mean, Gary's wearing his glasses!
A note about WB requesting The Leaky Cauldron remove their copy: That's totally their prerogative. I don't see any reason to remove it from HPANA. The WB can't tell actors not to be photographed, any more than they can tell the person who took the picture not to release it. Just remember, what you're seeing in this pic is a bunch of actors standing around.

I was floored by Gary Oldman - he didn't look anything like any other character I've ever seen him portray. I would not recognize him at all...he has an uncanny ability to morph into whatever character he's doing. I think he will be an amazing Sirius!
