The Sugar Quill and Markets Initiative are hosting a contest allowing participants the chance to showcase their Harry Potter fan-fiction writing skills (because all submissions will be posted on The Sugar Quill
) at the same time promoting the preservation of our ancient and endangered forests, as stated in the contest details
:
Goal of the Mission
Following are all of the terms of the mission, to use your vivid imagination to write a short story inspired by the Harry Potter series and the following statement by J.K. Rowling:
The forest at Hogwarts is home to magical creatures like unicorns and centaurs. Because the Canadian editions are printed on Ancient-Forest Friendly paper, the Harry Potter books are helping to save magnificent forests in the Muggle world, forests that are home of magical animals such as Orangutans, Wolves and Bears. It's a good idea to respect ancient trees, especially if they have a temper like the Whomping Willow. -- JK Rowling (Canadian edition of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)
Terms of the mission
It sounds like quite a challenge. Good luck to those participating.

Sounds like a neat contest, unfortunately I can't write well at all. That why I enjoy reading. Good luck to all that enters. Hopefully someone from HPANA.

Wo Ai Ni16: the site doesn't mention anything about having to become a member to enter, but I found this submission form for the participants to use in submitting their story. I hope that helps and good luck!

That sounds good - but a week to come up and write a good story isn't a lot of time.
I am however very intrigued by this and incredibly tempted.
Can we have a fanfic site at the HPANA as well? Or would that not be adding anything, since there are already some rather good sites with fanfic already.

That sounds fun, and I love to write fanfiction, but with my other stories and website, that'd be impossible. I hate being so busy. But, good luck to anyone who enters the contest-- you're brilliant just for entering.

I really can't write at all, being that Engish is my worst subject in school. Oh well, that is why I enjoy reading fan fiction. This contest sounds like fun, though.

Well, I'm reading this in 2005 so i guess I'm alittle late. But I think the idea of that is really cool and I hope they do another one like that, it would be interesting to submit something like that.
