Another Harry Potter book burning Popular (12444)

The Jesus Non-denominational Church in Greenville organized a Harry Potter book burning opens in new windowthis past Sunday to demonstrate that glorifying wizardry and sorcery will lead people to accept and believe in Satan. They were trying to save their souls by tearing up the devil and burning his words.

Pastor Tommy Turner said:

"I don't want anyone to go to hell, and the bible says if people use sorcery and witchcraft they will go to hell."

The younger members of the church agree. Kristi Eastman says many books teach that sorcery is okay.

"I'm very strongly against witchcraft... because I know it's not of God and I do everything God wants."

But Tasia Kisscorni, a high-school teacher says the church is making a much 'to do' about nothing:

"If you don't like something don't let your kids read it, that's fine. But you shouldn't make a public to do of it."

Harry Potter wasn't the only thing that took a burning - some of the parishoners also burned music CD's like 'NSync. They say the music is not glorifying God, so they don't need it.

Severus' Advocate says:

It's disgusting. If anything Harry Potter is Christ-like with
Harry's power being love, sacrificing himself for everyone in DH. They acted horribly.

I agree that we don't NEED things like HP. But, you don't have to burn them. I don't agree with the burning of most books. Only some, like those that are like inappropriate.

Wait. Another thing is, in defense of the Bible and God. I love Him and believe in the Bible, and what He says about witchcraft is that it is wrong. But, if you look deeply into those books (HP), there can be found some similarities betweent the Bible and HP books. That is just looking at it at sort of both ways.

Severus' mistress says:

Hey now! don't nobody be insulting any of these people, yeah a book burning is a bit harsh. Here is the truth, I am a Christian (if you go to church just because, or forced to makes you as much a Christian as going to your garage makes you a car)
anyway, Well Book burning is as I say is a bit harsh. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 18:10-14

“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12“For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord; and because of these detestable things the Lord your God will drive them out before you. 13“You shall be blameless before the Lord your God. 14“For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do so.

It's ok to read Harry Potter books if you see it as a simple fantasy, not a truth or something you actually will attempt to do.
