What's it going to be then, eh? The latest rumor
from Wizard News is that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, scheduled for release in 2005, will be longer than the previously rumored length of 2-1/2 hours.
Wizard News has now learned, according to reliable sources inside Warner Brothers, that they are looking into the possibility of making Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire into one movie, four hours long, with an intermission.
It is not known whether this change in thinking on the part of Warner Brothers was due to fan input
, or someone inside Warner Brothers who likes the Harry Potter stories enough to insist they not be butchered. In any event, this is very good news for Harry Potter fans!
Good news, indeed - although the key word here is rumor...

Tass- They're not gonna be released 5 months apart...Prisoner of Azkaban is gonna come out June 2004 and then they will release Goblet of Fire in November 2005. Not November 2004 if that's what you were thinking.

Tass- Ahh, I see what you're saying. I don't know if making it two parts would put up the sales...because it's still all one story...and I don't think even more people will watch the second part or something when they haven't seen the first.
Well, I dunno, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

All I have to say is I hope this rumor turns out to be true. Everyone should still keep signing that petition to make the movie longer that planned. I look forward to all the happy speculation to come. Thanks ya'll.

Oh PLEASE! I do hope it's longer than 2.5 hours. You can't squeeze that much out, it's ludicrous.

4 hours would be awesome. i dont know about anyone else but i feel the second movie (COS) could have been longer. it felt like they were skipping around very fast from scene to scene where they could have elaborated more on. I probably feel this way because i have read the book too many times and i notice exactly where things are changed or left out. Only problem with 4 hours is that kids wont sit through it. it will be more of a indurance test rather than an enjoyable experience. If it were up to me i would make it 5 if they have to. I love a good story.

The thing about LotR and Matrix is they are both solid Trilogies which complete one story. Harry Potter may already be seven parts in the long term, 5 parts at least. And it's not One chapters of one story sort of, It's several stories in a series. So it's not exactly the same thing. I get where you're all going with the 4 hr. with intermission or two part (I want it too), but for them one 'child sized' movie per book may be enough (and they kind of know they have there audience, even if they kick and scream about what's missing all the way to the theater and all the way back home and continue to rant about it as they return to the theater and later buy the film). I think at the least they should consider shooting material for an extended DVD release.

Well, this is just a "maybe" thing. They still haven't started filming yet, but I think maybe they're planning right now.
I think we have to wait until the writers and all write out the whole movie (pick out which scenes they're gonna do or not, and determine how long the scene will be) before they actually say how long the movie will be.

That would be great i would rather have an intermition in the middle of the movie then having to go see 2 movies like they did with the last 2 matrix movies because that really sucked.

I couldn't tell you how excited my sister and i both were when i found that the movie would be that long. That would more than make up for the length of the book. there's too much info in the "Goblet" to cut it short. The only disappointing thing is the intermission[/u] ...people need to go to the bathroom before the movie. (only kidding) WOW...I just noticed, i'm a little (whole lot) behind in the times. oh well!
