Nineteen-year-old Jacqueline Brocklehurst is probably the youngest woman to have ever taken part in the TV quiz show Mastermind
, according to quizmaster John Humphrys. What's more, Jacqueline impressed Humphrys with her performance
on the show.
Jacqueline Brocklehurst got 13 out of 19 questions correct in the "specialist subject" section of the quick-fire quiz.
Her specialist subject was the Potter movies.
She was up against three middle-aged men in the quiz, but she knew her subject better than they knew theirs.
The men scored between eight and 12 points, meaning Jacqueline was ahead at the halfway stage in the quiz.
Jacqueline managed to increase her score to 15 points, but it wasn't good enough to beat her fellow contestants.
The Leaky Cauldron
has also posted a list of the questions posed to Jacqueline, and here are a few examples:
Who was the scriptwriter for both films?
Which part was played by Eleanor Columbus?
Surname of actors playing the Weasley twins?
How many Academy Award nominations did PS/SS receive?
Name of town in Surrey where the Dursleys live?
Name of Gilderoy Lockhart's autobiography?

Congrats to Jacqueline! Those were a batch of tough questions! I don't know how many nominations Philosopher's Stone won, either.

morgana_witch - they did post all the questions, but you have to click the link to look on TLC.
I got most of them but wouldn't have known the Oscars question. The snake question was also a bit tricky. My first thought was naturally Brazil but as they noted on TLC, that's the book answer... in the movie it's Burma! D'oh!

I thought I knew a lot of Harry Potter, but those are tough questions. I am more familair with the characters and plot lines than movie trivia...great for Jacqueline I am glad she was able to answer those.

I consider myself a HP expert but in no way would I have gotten some of those questions, I'm not that sharp with the memory. I have to watch movies a few times in order for me to retain information and even then it's not accurate..hehe

from my understanding asking too many HP questions in a row for a competition is illegal by WB. I wonder how they bypased that... hmm.

Woah, those are some serious HP questions! Good for her, but if she's that smart maybe she should study something else, like foreign languages, or finding a cure for cancer!!

Glad Jacqueline had a chance in the quiz. Although I'm sure there are many people who could do a lot better.
Also, it is difficult not to get stage fright and have everything fly out of your head.
