Thanks to the barrage of e-mails we just received, we now understand the Associated Press in Mexico has confirmedopens in new window Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson will be guests of honor at John Williams' Harry Potter-themed concert Dec. 19 through 21, 2003 in that country:

I am Fran, from TotallyHarryPotter.orgopens in new window and I have some GREAT news...

A friend called me at 10:30 a.m. to tell me that I had to buy a local newspaper (one of the most important ones here): Reforma. I went for it, searched for the "People" section.. and there it was. An articleopens in new window about John Williams' concerts in México, which also confirms us that Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson will be there as special guests.

Here's the translation:

Mexico City, Mexico (October 15 2003) - The American music composer, John Williams, winner of 5 Oscars, will present on December 19, 20 and 21 at the Silvestre Revueltas Room, in the Cultural Centre Ollin Yoliztli, to direct the Filarmonic Orchestra of Mexico City, playing the Harry Potter music.

The main actors of the films, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson (Harry and Hermione) will be there as special guests.

"It all came out as a circumstancial idea, because I am a total Harry Potter fan. After having a chat with John Williams, he liked the proposal, and there're going to be three concerts. There's a chance that an extra date will be opened at the Ollin Yoliztli, the house of the Philharmonic," commented José María Álvarez, programming director of the Orchestra.

A Magical Evening with Harry Potter is the oficial name of the recitals that will take place with the purpose of celebrating Christmas with children, explained Álvarez.

That's why, he said, that the children will be asked to dress as wizards, to give a warmer and cozier ambiance to the event.

The concerts will be focused in different sections of the original music of the films Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and will also include music from Dukas (from Walt Disney's Fantasia), and some fragments of The Nutcracker, from Tchaikovsky.

"We'll make a special edition with images from both movies that will accompany the musical interpretation, which will be directed by John," said Álvarez.

The program of each concert will have as a first part, the music from the second tape of The Wizard's Apprentice, then the music from The Nutcracker, followed by the music from Harry Potter.

"Even though the third movie of the Harry Potter saga was supposed to be released in December, that's not confirmed yet, and it might be released until March due to marketing plans. Anyways, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have confirmed that they're coming to be present in the recitals," said Álvarez.

Williams, who has the record of being the person with the most Oscar nominees (47), has won only five Oscars and composing the music of movies like Star Wars, E.T., JAWS, Indiana Jones, and Schindler's List recognizes him. He has also won 18 Grammys, two Emmys and three Golden Globes.

Even though Bellas Artes and the Nacional Auditorium were contempled for the presentations of A Magical Evening with Harry Potter, due to dating reasons, the presentations will be done in the Ollin Yoliztli.

Tickets are available for sale there, and they cost 250 Pesos.

I wonder if Emma and Dan will attend all 3 concerts, and if they will want to dress like wizards or muggles? Wonder if we will see any pictures from the event? John Williams' music is so perfect for the films, I play the Harry Potter music all the time. They actually sound like real songs, not just background music from a movie, for the most part. Highly recommend them.

Hmmm... why isn't Rupert going? Does this suggest that... maybe... something is going on between Emma and Dan? Think about it...

And secondly, if they're coming across the ocean anyway, they will SURELY stop by at some of the continent's traditional tourist points... in other words, I won't be surprised if they make appearances in California and New York, for example!! Especially New York... which, clearly, is the greatest city in the world. :-)

Ooh, sorry. I thought they were trying to act Mexican by saying "pesos" instead of dollars. But 25?? Wow! I would definately go! But I live in Washington...and it's too far.
But I think it's a great oppurtunity for people that live in Mexico City. I think that many other countries deserve to have the stars go there and all, because they got gyped into buying Azkaban tickets because they thought the Azkaban premiere was gonna be there.

Yea, you better hurry and get tickets? So I wonder how big the theater is? There are going to be three shows, though. But I still bet they're going to be sold out fast.
Good for Mexico!

Ooh, yea! You should take pictures and send them to HPANA so they can post them and everyone can see them!

Regarding the movie date: Warner Bros. has told us they expect to do a same-day release in the U.S. and UK for June 4, 2004. That hasn't changed in quite a while, and I haven't heard anything else lately. I believe this article was mistaken or was referring to something else.

I would not be surprised if the release date is moved up to Dec. The studios like the day after Thankgiving(USA), to flow into the Christmas holidays.
I hope the concert is televised. Maybe E! can redeem themselves.

And my heartbeat quickend whilst reading about the date in december/march. But as Cheeser said, it'll very probably be a mistake.

So Dan and Emma will be there - as guests?! I wonder what they will be expected to do - what does one do at a concert featuring music from your films? Where will they sit? I would love to get some pictures of the event after it has taken place.

It is worth it just to go see John Williams conduct! What a musician he is!

That's so amazing! I went to a Philharmonic concert last year, it was really cool. At the end of the concert, they said they'll play something more modern that we'd like, but it turned out to be the Star Wars theme. I was kinda mad that they didn't play HP but SW was pretty good too!
