The official Harry Potter movie site has posted a short interview with Daniel Radcliffe
, the main star of the film series. He talks about being "obsessed" with film and music, being good friends with Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and Matthew Lewis, and filming under the Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón:
Q: How does working with the new director (Alfonso Cuarón) compare with your experience with Chris Columbus?
A: First of all, I consider myself very lucky to have worked with two great directors on these films. Chris is without doubt, the most energetic director I have ever met. He was amazing in keeping us motivated and in encouraging us every step of the way. Alfonso on the other hand directs in a more intense way. The scenes in this film are some of the most passionate and emotional I have ever worked on and Alfonso's style has been very helpful to me.
Q: Are you going to work in anymore Harry Potter films?
A: At the moment I am working on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and I will certainly make Goblet of Fire. After that? Who knows?

I think the third movie will be better than the first two. Why? like Dan said "The scenes in this film are some of the most passionate and emotional" its better that it real than corny with no depth.

I think it's a great move to have a new director. As the books progress and the story gets darker, a fresh look is definately needed. It is definately a Good Thing.

Wotcher_Tonks says:
Chris Columbus did the right thing from the beginning by interviewing the parents of the children who were going to be in the film, ensuring they were not pushing or trying to live there lives through their children, this shows through again and again by how normal Dan, Emma and Rupert and the rest are, and how easily they slip back into their normal lives once filming is finished.
Again and again we hear them state how lucky they feel they are and how priviledge.
I agree with HP_Fan this is going to be a fantastic film with Cuaron at the helm.

Sorry for the 2nd post but to Gir Vasquez, I believe Daniel did have green contacts at first, but found them very irritating so they were then to digitally color his eyes. If they follow the book, great emphasis is made on Harry's green eyes "like his mother's". They really should be green.

It's great that Dan has decided to do this film. Does anyone know if Emma and Rupert have signed on for the next film? I think this film will be the best of the three because I don't think it is directed as much to younger ages. Just a thought - :D

Interesting too bad it doesn't say much about the PoA movie like how far along it is and so on.

I'm so happy for Dan! He's growing up so fast...sniff. He's really turning into a mature actor. I don't know if I 'd be able to do what the director asked of me, but I'd sure try. Sigh. Now if only I could act....

Opera Ghost says:
I, too, hope the trio will stay for all 7 films. Matthew Lewis and the others, too. Dan sounds like a well-rounded, level headed young man. Seems like he must have had good guidance and support through all this, don't see how a kid could deal with the pressure otherwise. I think if they all take a break from filming after the Harry Potter films, go to college or just take a few years off, they will be able to continue acting careers without worrying about being typecast from these movies. Others have done the same, successfully. Important to choose good roles, though. Seems like even more experienced, older actors have trouble with that...makes you wonder, "What were they thinking?"

I love the interview and it's great to hear that Dan's gonna be in GOF but I'm with siriusgurl. Everytime they talk about Alfonso they keep saying that everythings all emotional and intense. It makes me really anxious for POA. I can't wait for the trailer then we can finally see what everythings going to somewhat look like.

It's nice to see that Dan is learning from all his directors, otherwise what a waste of talent that would be. Whether we agree with the director choices or not, they each have something important to contribute to the growth and development of all of the characters, especially the younger ones - ie - Dan, Emma, Rupert, Tom, etc!

It sounds like the cast has a high opinion of Cuaron, so I am looking forward even more to POA. Intense would be a good feature, as this book is very intense. The kids are definitely growing into their roles. I cannot wait to see what future years (and films) bring. Here's hoping Mike Newell continues the trend with GOF.
