Rumors abound on the Internet - and the Harry Potter books and films are certainly no exception. But just remember that rumors are just that - rumors - until confirmed.
Keeping that in mind, two rumors regarding the movie version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which isn't due out until 2007, are currently making the rounds.
According to Contactmusic News
, if you were worried that the irreplaceable trio of Daniel Radcliffe
, Emma Watson
, and Rupert Grint
, along with bad boy Tom Felton
, were in danger of, well, being replaced by the time Order of the Phoenix gets rolling, fret no more.
Harry Potter lead actor Daniel Radcliffe has been signed up to star in the fourth and fifth installments of the magical movie adaptations.
Alongside Harry, fellow teenage stars Emma Watson - playing Hermione, Rupert Grint - playing Ron, and Tom Felton - playing Draco, have also been confirmed as definites.
The problem is that Contactmusic News
is by no means in a position to officially confirm anything - plus they didn't bother to quote a source in their article - so take this news with a grain of salt for now.
And thanks to MuggleNet for pointing to another interesting rumor: if you're wondering who Warner Bros. is going to tap to direct Order of the Phoenix, then look no further than IMDb's Order of the Phoenix webpage
, which lists Stuart Baird
as the director. If you're curious about Baird's other work, he's also directed Star Trek: Nemesis
, U.S. Marshals
, and Executive Decision
.
Again, keep in mind that IMDb
is not in a position to officially confirm this type of news.
But it does make for some interesting speculation in the meantime ...

Wow kewl first, well it would be hard to replace em but also hard to play them of f as 14,15,16,and 17 years old when they will be far beyond that soon.

Wow they haven't even completed the third one yet but the sooner they can confirm the actors return for the fifth film, the better in my opinion! But it does seem very early to take these rumors seriously.

I have been waiting for HPANA to post something about those rumours coming from Contactmusic - I am not familiar with their reliability as far as HP is concerned.
As an avid HPer, I am hoping that the rumours are true - that will leave the last 2 films (that don't even have books yet) for a new set of actors. Maybe all three will make all seven films?! Keeping my fingers crossed!

This is really neat. My hope is that Rowling will write the novels quickly enough to allow the original cast to see the movies through. I also hope she will finish so I can learn the end of the story.

Well that's good. Even though those rumours are not confirmed yet i'm pretty sure they'll do all the HP movies. What about the other important characters such as Dean Thomas, Neville, Seamus, Angelina, Katie, Alicia, Percy ??

I would love to see them keep the same actors in the films for as long as they can pull it off. 2007 is a long way off- by then, the main teen actors will be 17-20 years of age and playing age 15, but it can be done. We all believed Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, didn't we? He was like 25 and played a 17 year old. Hopefully JKR will publish the next two books in a reasonable time to get the movies produced before the trio and other young actors are married and having kids.

I don't know how much I believe this to be true...
I would actually like to see a new cast after the fourth film... That would mean that we'd be able to see the next stars of the films to grow up the way that they're supposed to, and by at least the second film we'd be used to seeing them.
Plus, it would be nice to actually have an actor that fits Harry's description. You know... black hair, green eyes... not Dan's brown hair and blue eyes. I know it's details... but it just makes sense to do it right in the beginning.
But, who knows... They'll probably try to get away with them playing the parts for as long as they can.

It would be nice if the rumors were true. Unfortunately they were just recently signed to do Goblet of Fire so I am sure that there won't even be discussion about it until filming on this one is over.

I already informed people of this in the forums before this article from Contact Music about Order of the Phoenix casting was posted in the news section, thus my comment concerning this information will be trite.
I will not acknowledge the credibility of Contact Music's information until a spokesperson for Warner Bros. confirms it, not to say I do not hope it will be, in fact, true. The cast should remain on board for all seven films since the audience is already too adapt to them to have them replaced. It would be cool to see the four principle cast members mature through all seven (or six if one of them dies beforehand) films, but if their acting does substantially improve they might leave Potter for other films.

I really want them to make all 7 movies, i'm already used to them, and that's since the first movie. When i read the books i see their faces, when Harry's talking, i see Dan, when Hermione's doing something, i see Emma etc..

They really are irreplaceable. Weve gotten to know them as their characters through, soon to be, 3 movies and it's hard to see anyone else playing them. Besides, Harry and the rest are supose to be growing up through out each book so I don't see the actor's appearances being much as an issue. Just as long as they don't decide to dye hermione's hair blond and give harry highlights, I'm good.

I'd definately love this rumor to be true, but i don't think we can believe it that much. They just confirmed that they were going to be in GoF, and they just finnished PoA filming, lets take things 1 step at a time and try not to get ahead of ourselves.

As much as I want all 7 books to become movies (once the books come out of course) ... I really don't think everyone will fit their part still. And getting new actors wouldn't be the same =( Oh well, there's still a lot of time so who knows what will happen.

It would be very good to see the same actors in all movies, I really like them all.
I'd also want to hear some news about WB's casting of all the other important roles in GoF: Moody, Karkaroff, Voldemort,... I mean they want to start filming next year, there should be at least an idea who is going to be in the movies!

I had heard this rumor earlier today and was wondering if was actually true. It would seem that it is a bit premature in that who knows when this movie will be made. A screenplay needs to be written, a director found, etc. before they worry about the actors. What if it isn't made until 2006, do we really want Harry and the trio to be playing much younger characters?? I love the trio and would love to see them do all the movies, but I think it is unlikely that will happen. I am just excited that we will difinately get to see them in POA and GOF. By the way if anyone hasn't sent an email associated with SavingGOF, please do so. We want GOF to be the best movie possible, not some watered down version (write and email often)!
