For those whose school didn't receive a visit from the casting director, here's your chance. The Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire filmmakers are holding a casting session on Sunday, December 21 at Pineapple Studios
for those who fit the role of either Parvati or Padma Patil and are in the London area this weekend:
A casting session is being staged at Pineapple Studios, Langley Street, Covent Garden, 10am - 3pm on Sunday.
Asian girls aged 13 to 16 are being invited to go along. Acting experience isn't necessary but the film-makers are being really strict about who they see. They say people who don't match the descriptions will not be allowed in.
Directions can be found at Pineapple Studios'
website. Good luck to those who audition.

M. Sebastian says:
Seems they have not found the right persons for the role yet. But they do not give much information except for age as to what they are referring to as "Asian". We've already discussed that the girls in the book have Indian ancestry. Since there was some controversy about this, I wonder if they will be turning away girls who, although Asian, are not Indian.

The casting department for Goblet of Fire must be really specific on the appearance of those who wish to play Parvati and Padma Patil from the information in the article. Best of luck to whoever does decide to audition for the role! I think they want Indian girls as Parvati is an Indian name (she is a goddess in the Hindu religion), like M. Sebastian said. I wonder if they will soon hold auditions for Cho Chang in Goblet of Fire...

I still can't fathom why they're trying to get two asians for this role. I never imagined them to be at all. But, what do I know, eh?

Define Asian? Anywhere from India to Japan? Or only Japan,
China and Korea? I always thought of the Patil's sisters as Indian, Pakistani, or that general area.

Ah, if only I was only 13-16, asian, had a sister, and lived in London...I'd SO be there!! Hahaha, what can ya do though? (I'm totally feeling the rest of you on this one, wishing we qualified) ;)
I agree though. I never pictured the Patil sisters as being Asian. Did I miss something in the books? Maybe I should go back and re-read them...(not like I wasn't going to anyway, but now I'll be looking for it).
Oh, and Cho_Chang2, I SO WISH they would come to Canada too! Honestly, if the lot of them came here for a visit, I'd fully be there! Heck, doesn't even have to be the whole lot...I'd be entirely satisified with just Tom Felton ;)

This sounds like a great opportunity for some young actresses. A part at this point could be a good laucning point for a new career. I imagine they want some relatively unknown actresses.

To clear it up Parvati or Padma Patil are Indian. Parvati is the name of an Indian goddess.

Well i'm an Asian. Unfortunately, I have no twin and I just cant afford to fly to Pineapple Studios, which by the way I dont know where. Well the GoF Movie, seems to be as exciting as the 1st 3 movies even if has not yet been started. I hope they would get the right twins for the role.

I always thought of Parvati and Padma as Indian girls, not Asian. Who knows why the call is for Asian girls only. Maybe WB sees the Asian label as all encompassing - including girls of Indian heritage?
As long as the girls cast are fun to watch, I will be happy. Well, it would be good if they looked alike, too!

PINEAPPLE STUDIOS? Sorry, just struck me funny, sounds like a joke. Is that where Spongebob Squarepants makes his show? Seriously, I hope the casting goes well, being that they are the guy's dates for the ball. Good luck to those who are picked to audition! I'm sure that getting even that far will be a fun and memorable experience.
