Is this Buckbeak? According to The Sun this is a picture
of the creature that will appear in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
The newspaper reports:
Watch the birdie! Here's the first picture of Buckbeak - the half-eagle, half-horse hippogriff from the new Harry Potter blockbuster.
Thanks to Marianne and Heather for the tip!

I agree with some of you I would like to see the whole hippogriff too! So far very nice! And of course it is going to be pc animated to! But they had to have a model for the actors and the computer.

Chogirl -you are so right! Personally, I think the head of Buckbeak looks very realistic - contrary to those on the site who feel it looks fake! It really could be worse, you know.
All these pictures, the questions answered by Dan, interviews and all with people involved in the film keep me wanting more! LOTR can only provide so much entertainment before the glitter starts to fall off the the need for new HP material creeps back into my brain. I do, however, really like the cast audio comments on the LOTR DVDs. I would like to urge WB to do the same thing now that the actors are older and the audience more diverse! Can you imagine hearing Ron, Dan and Emma commenting on what they did in a scene or how something was done? Very cool!

Ever wonder where the name Hippogriff comes from?
Hippo means horse. A Griffin is a magical creature, part lion part eagle.
Just thought that was interesting and wanted to share it.

I imagined Buckbeak as all brown, including his head. The white head makes him look like a bald eagle, which seems kind of too american or something. But then again, I am not an expert on hippogriff color varieties.

Well, considering it is only a still picture, I bet it will look even better with the proper lighting and movement and so on. Can't wait for it to go on the attack! Then be all curled up and tame in Hagrid's hut. I wonder how they got this photo, I thought it was a secret (For awhile longer, at least).

It's great!!! Too bad it's not a picture of the whole thing. And where is it? It looks like it's in a tent. The description is dead on so it's gotta be it.

Well he looks pretty good but you know it may look different on the big screen so we'll just have to wait and see how it looks when the actual movie comes out. It's getting closer at least we're almost in the same year that it comes out!!!

The picure of Buckbeak is really great! I didn't think that they would actually show us a picture of him this early. But I'm not complaining! I'm glad that they're using an actual model. It won't look so fake then.
I agree with Choralee about the DVD thing. I hope they add more interesting features to the DVD like a gag reel or a day in the life of Daniel Radcliffe. Anything like that. Not everyone that gets these DVDs are little kids. Hopefully Alfonso will make sure that happens. He's done great so far!

I'm sure that with lighting and additional effects, the finished product will look much different than this photo. I doubt that we'll be disappointed.

It looks like a puppet that they used as a guide to do the Buckbeak scences. Maybe we are going to see a CGI of Buckbeak in the movie.
