First surfaced in May 2003
, new life has been pumped into a rumor that Rowan Atkinson, of Mr. Bean fame, is being considered (or has been cast) for a role in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Thanks to The Leaky Cauldron
for pointing out that Variety has included Atkinson in an updated production chart
.
According to the trade, the film will see Daniel Radcliffe returning as Harry, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, Dame Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall and will star Rowan Atkinson
in an undisclosed role. Mike Newell will direct a screenplay from Steve Kloves and David Heyman is producing once again. Production is expected to start in April.
Janette Linden his agent said "There's no truth whatsoever that Rowan will be in the next Harry Potter movie."
Warner Bros. insiders also say that no casting decisions have been made yet.

Whoa, I'm glad he isn't Voldemort. L.O.L! I just can't picture that. I could see him as Ludo Bagman, though.

Thank god! I was getting worried that WB has lost their mind by casting Mr. bean as Volide! I mean seriously, who would have believed that guy as Voldie? Honestly! I would certainly not have minded to see him in the movie, and think he is a fine actor, just not as Voldie. Glad not all rumors are true.
Now has anyone confirmed that aliens HAVEN'T in fact landed on earth?? :)

Wow! what a changing story. Not surprising really. But since there is so much going on about this it might just be true and they are keeping it under wraps. We should know for sure in about 3 months.

Thank the Heavens this rumor is not true! I could NEVER see Rowan as Voldemort. I could possibly see him as Ludo Bagman in future Hp movies. Besides i figured that Voldemort would be more computer animated than anything, since he was in the first movie.

Oh Yay! Now, in my opinion, if you're going to put a "Bean" in the next HP, make it Sean Bean!!

fire_bad, you've hit upon the perfect role for Rowan Atkinson: a cameo as the wizard at the Quidditch World Cup who says he likes a healthy breeze 'round his privates. Only one problem, though: he's supposed to be old, isn't he? I suppose the make-up artists can take care of that.
So, who is going to play Voldemort? Who's the scariest person out there...? Might I suggest Christopher Lee, who played Saruman in The Lord of the Rings? Check out this picture of him.
Can anyone imagine him as Voldemort?

I'm a little confused now... I wonder when we'll really know who'll play Voldemort in that movie... Probably only when they start filming, but I'm getting sick of those rumors.

Thank goodness it was only a rumour and that the rumour has been squashed! No offence meant to Rowan - he's just too darn funny to play Voldemort.
Maybe he has a small cameo as others have pointed out -
Hey - does anyone have any ideas who could be chosen to play Krum?

Okay, I never really expected him to be playing voldemort anyways, I'm expecting more of a Christopher Lee type of actor for that role. And I can't wait to see how they make him look, but, I still think Atkinson would make a good moody, or a good peeves! ;)

I like qwatnee's idea of him playing Peeves, that would be perfect! Although so far we haven't seen Peeves in any of the movies but I would like to.

Mr. Bean cannot be Voldemort!!!! He's not nearly as evil enough. Get someone like say Ralph Fiennes. He's wicked evil in Wuthering Heights. Though he may need some make up to look snakish.

I am so glad that he is not going to be in the Harry Potter movie, because he is too goofy for this movie, and I can't really see him anywhere in the movie, unless he was an extra, thats it. But other than that, nope!
