According to Amazon Franceopens in new window, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will be 135 minutes, or two hours and fifteen minutes long.

That falls in line with what Canadian television site CTV reported in January. Director Alfonso CuarĂ³n allegedly said author JK Rowling's story lent itself to a tighter script than the first two films.

Awwww.... I was hopeing it to be about 3hours or something. I sat through Lord of the Rings which was 3 hours and 30 minutes. I could definetly sit through Harry Potter if it was that long. Eh, i guess 2hrs and 15 minutes isn't so bad :(

I would like the movie to be longer too! But he said that
the story lent itself to a tighter script than the first two films. So I guess that means that it was easier to get it all in. Well I hope they will get it all in!!

I'll be watching no matter what lenghth! Im ok with 135 min., as long as they don't leave the good stuff out. They could easily make it longer though, since POA is a bigger book *shrugs*...but o.k. ;)

As along as the movie is really great then I wont get too mad. I mean the other ones were longer but they had some moments that were like "umm.. why is that there?" Just make them great and I'll be happy.

I think that time should be sufficient. I just worry about GoF and forward. What will they cut from them for the sake of time?

Oh, well... it's only fifteen minutes shorter than the first two, so it probably shouldn't seem like that much of a difference. I hope there's enough time to fit in all the important scenes.

I think that is a respectable length for PoA. I mean duh I would want to sit in the theater for eight hours watching it if I could. But think about the people who want to sell it. They don't want people not to come becuase they think it's to long.

There is plenty of subject matter from the book to make a good 4 or 4.5 hour film. Frankly, I think the longer - the better! However, since it will only be 135 minutes, I REALLY hope that when the movie is relaesed on dvd, that an extended version is released. I hope-I hope-I hope !!!

I don't see why others are making a big deal of the movie. At last the HP movies have a proper director. Two hours and fifteen minutes is plenty of time to do the movie, as each scene probably lasts for ten to fifteen minutes, I'm figuring. I just have a high expectation for quality, not quantity.

Oh, and I forgot! We can always buy the DVD! Unless you don't have a DVD player or PS2. They're always chock full of deleted scenes. So we're really going to get more than 2hr 15min worth of film.

I'm glad they didn't make it a two part movie! Then you would have to wait to watch the second part of it after you saw the first part. 2h and 15 min is a bit short but you gotta live with what you get ^_^

Although i would have much preferred a longer movie (eg 4 hours) at least this means GoF will have to be at least 3 hours! OotP (My favouruite!) had better be over 4! Imagine, 4 hours of Harry Potter! Then you could buy all the DVDs and have a 24 hour HP marathon *sighs dreamily* they better not have cut anything important out or I will be in a towering rage!

Almost 2 and a half hour. I'm surprised.
If you take a look at the book I though they would make it less then 2 hours.
I do hope they put every important detail in it!
And a lot of Snape ofcourse like in the book!
