According to Amazon France
, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will be 135 minutes, or two hours and fifteen minutes long.
That falls in line with what Canadian television site CTV reported in January. Director Alfonso CuarĂ³n allegedly said author JK Rowling's story lent itself to a tighter script than the first two films.

That is too short. The movie needs to be longer if they have to fit all the important parts in. Well I still can't wait for the movie to come out.

Oh, I hope PoA is not hacked. 2 hours, 15 minutes .... I guess that will be okay. I just hope the movie follows the book. This is my favorite book of the series, and I want to see all of it brought to the screen.

I personally would like to see the adaptation of the third Harry Potter novel running at least for three hours, but I guess Prisoner of Azkaban will be a fine film if they manage to let the audience enough time to keep track of all the sub-plots which come into play at the climax; however, from the trailer airing during the Nickelodeon Takes Over the Super Bowl, I worry that Cuaron may have, instead, spent more of the running time on annoying, pointless details, such as the Leaky Cauldron moment in which the door opens on the woman. I guess I should not presume anything about this film until I see it... I hope they release an Extended Version of the film on DVD, with the deleted scenes built into the original film, unlike the first two, prolonging the length of the film to about three hours.

It will be interesting to see how the movie flows. I am not worried about the time here, since quality counts most. I feel this story could be told very well within that time frame.

That is kind of short isn't it? But I think I said this in my post regarding the previous news article that said that POA would be the shortest film yet - if it ensures no overly long endings and needless cheesy moments I'm all for a good edit :-)

that's kinda depressing. I mean there is just so much cool stuff in this book that they are going to leave out. and some funny O.Wood scenes too. (especially if there is no Cho in PoA.)

I think it will be ok for PoA, but I hope they have a longer time set up for GoF. I couldn't imagine trying to keep the same storyline going with that book in just 2 hours and 15 minutes.

I am not fluent in French but it seems that the page is to the section of Amazon that sells DVD's.
I do not often shop at Amazon but that doesn't make sense for them to have an entry for it in that section yet.

Sierradragon, Amazon.com does post movie and DVD news often, and they probably get it from credible sources. Besides, I could never sit in a seat for 3 hours.

I agree with just about all of those here who want it to be longer. What are they afraid of? Take your time and do this fantastic story justice.
By the way, this has a lot to do with GOF as well. I don't mind the notion of splitting the longer ones up at all, even though they've already said they won't.

Well, i guess 2hours and 15 minutes is reasonable for POA just as long as they dont leave out any important details. But i would prefer if it was longer. Okay, if POA is gonna be 2hours and 15minutes and GOF might be 2hours and 30 minutes then it doesnt say much for GOF because it is WAY longer that POA you know. So i'm really starting to worry about GOF. Well, i'm satisfied about POA's time. I'm sure it will be the best!!!

I'm a bit scared. This is a half hour shorter than the first film...a book half the size. *sigh* Why they gotta be all stiff and cut so much. I'm sure it'll be good, but there's so much that I know they'll probably cut that they shouldn't!
