Our sister site Diagon Alley
has posted an exciting account of visiting the set of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
last year by one of its members.
While this particular trip resulted in the fandom's very first look at Gary Oldman as Sirius Black, it was much more than that for the lucky girls who got to meet Alan Rickman and Alfonso CuarĂ³n:
We entered Shepperton Studios, about an hour and a half away from London, on a muggy summer afternoon. Soon we picked up the other girl and her mother, went immediately to the set.
If I had walked in blindfolded, I could have sworn I was in the Forbidden Forest. The Whomping Willow was right there in front of my eyes! The set used real trees and moss and soil and everything imaginable to make it seem like a true forest.
My favourite part of this entire true tale is that, on the way back from the set, poor Alan Rickman fell asleep on my shoulder from his cold, which I caught and named the Alan Rickman bug. I believe I still have it.

If that is what I have to do to meet Alan Rickman, so be it. Why was he leaning on her shoulder? Very interesting...

Wow... thats really cool. But its kinda weird that he fell asleep on her shoulder, I would have been very uncomfertable if that ever happened to me. Haha, cool set report thingy. I would have loved to have met Rupert and Alan Rickman. Cool article, that girl is lucky.

Does anyone else think that this girl went a little over board on her report. I mean, unless her uncle was a GREAT FRIEND of Rickman's, I don't think that she would have been able to 1)go to his house, 2)see his BATHROOM, or 3)visit the set for 5 hours all in one visit.
OK, call me cynical, but this is just my opinion.

I would probably faint if someone told me I was going to the POA set. That must have been so cool. But I'd rather catch a cold from Dan... or maybe Tom. Hehe.

I have a hard time believing that Alan Rickman and his significant other would give a random tour of their home to some girl that they don't even know. Much less, show her the bathroom. I also have a hard time believing that he fell asleep on her shoulder on the way back. I don't doubt that they visited the Prisoner of Azkaban set, but the rest sounds kinda fishy. The first part may be true, but Alan is a very reserved and private person and I don't think he would just give a tour of his house to a complete stranger. Oh well, maybe it's just me. Nowadays, you can make up any old story on meeting a celebrity and people will believe you. I'm glad the girl had fun on her trip anyway.

I have no reason to doubt her story. It sounds like Alan knows the gal's uncle (who works in the industry) quite well, and he did this as a personal and/or professional favor.
That is exactly what happened. Thank you for pointing out the obvious explanation that so many others refused to see.
To all of the people who have rudely insinuated the story is a fake by way of comments here, comments at Diagon Alley, and messages to my personal e-mail, I say this:
I know for a fact that this story is true. I have known the girl in question for quite some time. She provided me with the original picture of Gary as Sirius last year, and got in quite a bit of trouble over it after I posted it and it ended up all over the internet. She is one of the girls in the picture, and she did visit the set. I asked her recently if she wouldn't mind writing a bit of her experience down for us, as PoA is quickly approaching, and I thought it might make a nice interest piece for DA.
Her uncle is a friend of Alan Rickman's. I have personally known this fact for quite some time, so the set visit wasn't a huge surprise to me (although the picture sure was!)
It is very irksome and as I said, rude, for people who don't know anything about Mr. Rickman aside from what they've read to insinuate that someone who actually does know him has no idea what they are talking about.
Sorry for the rant, Jeffy. ;o) Thanks, everyone!

Hi, I'm the blonde girl in the picture. My uncle and aunt are indeed very good friends with Alan Rickman. My aunt is in the movie business and my uncle is in PR. I was given this opportunity because Mr. Rickman is such a nice man. Yes, his voice sounds sexier with a cold, and yes, I was given a tour of his house because I was with my aunt and uncle at the time and Mr. Rickman and his s/o were remodelling. I only saw the bathroom because he was hanging a lithograph my aunt gave him in there.
I can understand doubting a story as incredible as this. Part of me wants to scream and order DNA testing to prove I was there. The other part of me is sad that people are so jaded that they must quickly come to a conclusion without any basis for fact.
As Mr. Cellophane says, "I hope I haven't taken up too much of your time."
