Unsuspecting Harry Potter fans awoke today to find their favorite sites and communities overrun with tomfoolery, in celebration of April Fool's day. The event has become a stalwart tradition in the HP fandom.
Sites who joined in the fun today include:
, who's playing the part of Tom the innkeeper (of the actual Leaky Cauldron, no less!) in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Tom (a.k.a. Jim) posted throughout the day wondering what all these people were doing in his pub, chatting incessantly about Harry Potter. They were also able to promote Jim's upcoming marathon in support of the British Dyslexia Association.
, which would be a combination of BBC's The Office and include cast members from the Harry Potter films.
, where customers could order from a full spectrum of offerings from the Harry Potter-financed operation. Very well-done.

These were all excellent pranks! I went to a few of the other sites, but HPANA took the cake with the whole PNN thing. I LOVED the joke articles about Sirius, Umbridge, and the time turner. Very cute, and thanks to all of the HPANA staff who were involved in the carrying out of this April Fools antic.

Yikes, you got me! I popped in yesterday quickly to check out hpana and saw a diff site... I peaked at the first article on sirius, thought it was cute but thought there was a glitch on my web favorites.. I clicked again to see if it was me and just had to get back to work and didn't have time to just type in www.hapan.com.. I never had a chance to check back or read any of the other articles and blonde me forgot it was april 1... Very cool hapana!! Great Job!! hey FYI, Emma Watson's birthday is coming up, April 15th as that is my b-day as well.. easy to remember..

Very cool trick! I was confused at first - wondering if someone had taken over the HP online world, but then I looked at the date. PNN is a good idea - a great way to publish fan fiction!
If anyone knows how to access those articles, please let me know - I want to read them all!

What I thought was exceptionally clever was the way the articles were tied in with actual current news happenings i.e., gas and floo powder prices, etc. Very, very clever indeed. The site looked so authentic, I can't imagine all the work that went into producing it. Lots of April fools -- Ebay was offering some exciting items such as Frodo's cloak. It was a fun day.

My favorites were the ones obviously tied to current headlines (Umbridge's testimony and Floo Powder price increases). Both my children and university colleagues thought it a magnificent spoof. Thanks for what must have been HOURS of work.

I was so freaked out. I totally forgot it was April Fools Day.
Honestly, I am surprized I forgot because...well, let me tell you my story. I live in Springfield, Missouri, USA. Brad Pitt is from my town and he visits occasionally :) Well, on April Fool's Day a local radio station (I was listening the entire time) said that Brad was in town interviewing people at Bass Pro Shop (the biggest in the world) and if you wanted to go, it was from 8-10 AM. Apparently a lot of people showed up because BPS called the station begging them (it was pretty pathetic) to tell people Brad was not there because people were getting really upset.
So, I hope everyone had a good 1st.

I WAS SOOOOO PISSED OFF!!!!!!!!!!! That makes me so mad!!!!!!!!!!! AGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! I didn't even find out until I went to mugglenet and they had a post saying the whole PNN thing was a joke!!!!!
