What do Peter Jackson, Simon Cowell, the Pope, JK Rowling and U.S. President George W. Bush have in common? J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books, was listed as one of the "Artists and Entertainers" of Time magazine's just published list of the 100 "World's Most Influential People."
According
to Time magazine:
JK Rowling
Publishing's gentle Pied Piper
Age: 38
Author of the galactically successful series of Harry Potter children's books. "Her influence is quiet because it's private, a transaction between her imagination and ours, and it is measured in gratitude, to a woman who has used her power well."
The current issue of Time magazine
will hit newsstands on Monday.

Wow! It is just lovely to see JK Rowling's influence acknowleged by the mainstream media. She is a woman who has sparked our imaginations and created an insatiable desire to read in a generation raised on Barney. If she wouldn't be considered "influential", I'm not sure who would be.

Due to the server switch, I'll have to post comments under the many new news articles for the next hour... How fun...
I doubt any magazine would disregard how much J.K. Rowling has affected Western culture... Simon Cowell being on that list amuses me; how does he help society except by making people not regard work, but superiority?

Don't suppose that some years back JKR would have ever dreamed of being on the same list as the Pope and the President of the U.S. as well as many other very influential and famous people. She definitely belongs there, however, not only for her talent, but her great charity.
