have counted down the most anticipated movies of the summer and on the list of 10 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban lands at number 2, ahead of Shrek and behind Spiderman.
According to EW here are the reasons we can't wait to see the movie:
WHY WE CAN'T WAIT: We've had to endure more than 18 months without a new "Potter" picture. Plus, we're intrigued by the choice of Alfonso Cuarón (Y Tu Mama Tambien) as director.
THE PREMISE: Renegade wizard Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) escapes from Azkaban prison and comes looking for Harry now in his third year of study at Hogwarts.
SOURCE: The third book in J.K. Rowling's projected series of seven "Harry Potter" novels
THE BACK STORY: Chris Columbus, who directed the first two "Potter" movies, stepped back and took a producer's title this time. Successor Cuarón may be best known for his racier recent work, but he also directed the underrated 1995 kids' film A Little Princess.
BURNING QUESTION: Will Cuarón's vision, darker and more freewheeling than that of Columbus, scare the kiddies and alienate the fiercely protective "Potter" purists? And will fans embrace a new Dumbledore (Michael Gambon, taking over from the late Richard Harris)?
COME FOR: A streetwear-clad, angry, "punk rock" Harry, (in Radcliffe's words)
STAY FOR: New additions to the Hogwarts bestiary -- Dementors and hippogriffs, oh my!

Book three was probably my favorite so that is why I am so excited for the movies. That and the first two movies were so good. I hope the directing style is not too different but I'm sure it is going to be great either way.

I can agree with these reasons. All of them plus many more. I think waiting for the books also is a factor, since we want to know more to figure out the end of the story.

I have my own bunch of reasons for wanting to see this movie, and a few of them involve some of the actors, hehe. ;)
But it's mainly because this film is said to be a bit saucier in many aspects, and I've really missed that in the first two films (and books).
The older they get, the better, I say!

It has been way too long between movies, thank goodness they have started on GoF already! If the withdrawl symptoms are this bad BETWEEN movies, how bad will it be after the last movie comes out? It is too depressing to think about...must think happy thoughts...only 42 days to go...

NUMBER 2???? SPIDERMAN NO.1???!!!! This is surely a joke!!!!!! This is going to be best film ever everybody, get it right!!! because any film with Dan in is great!!! i even watched The taior of Panama just to see Dan, and found that it was actually quite good!!! Just like David Copperfield is great!!!
Also, Dan happens to be the no.1 actor in the world not to mention that the film also contians the no.1 actress and no.1 actor!!!!
