The reasons why we can't wait to see 'Prisoner' Popular (3252)

Entertainment Weeklyopens in new window have counted down the most anticipated movies of the summer and on the list of 10 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban lands at number 2, ahead of Shrek and behind Spiderman.

According to EW here are the reasonsopens in new window we can't wait to see the movie:

WHY WE CAN'T WAIT: We've had to endure more than 18 months without a new "Potter" picture. Plus, we're intrigued by the choice of Alfonso Cuarón (Y Tu Mama Tambien) as director.

THE PREMISE: Renegade wizard Sirius Black (Gary Oldmanopens in new window) escapes from Azkaban prison and comes looking for Harry now in his third year of study at Hogwarts.

SOURCE: The third book in J.K. Rowling's projected series of seven "Harry Potter" novels

THE BACK STORY: Chris Columbus, who directed the first two "Potter" movies, stepped back and took a producer's title this time. Successor Cuarón may be best known for his racier recent work, but he also directed the underrated 1995 kids' film A Little Princess.

BURNING QUESTION: Will Cuarón's vision, darker and more freewheeling than that of Columbus, scare the kiddies and alienate the fiercely protective "Potter" purists? And will fans embrace a new Dumbledore (Michael Gambon, taking over from the late Richard Harris)?

COME FOR: A streetwear-clad, angry, "punk rock" Harry, (in Radcliffe's words)

STAY FOR: New additions to the Hogwarts bestiary -- Dementors and hippogriffs, oh my!

Gemmy says:

The main reason that I want to see it even more than the others (other than the fact that I am obsessed with Harry Potter and adore it completely and am enchanted by it) is because of the director. When I forst heard that Alfonso was directing, I was disappointed, as I didn't know much about him and hoped he would doa good job, and now I am sooo excited becuase the traielrs are so enchantingly dark and scary, with powerful images, music, etc and everyone looks even more real and amazing than the last two, which I thought were okay, but could hav ebeen better. Not they look fabululous (esp, trelawney) and I so cannot wait as I have a feeling this will be brilliant and the best movie that it could possibly be!

That is a few good reasons...but the main one is because Tom, Dan, and Rupert are just so hot and also because Harry Potter is the absolute best and we just can't resist loving it and being obsessed.

kaela987 says:

I agree with everything that EW said. The main reasons I am so excited to see this installment of Harry Potter is because Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite book and because I'm excited to see how Alfonso Cuaron will direct the movies differently than Colombus did. I think Chris Colombus kind of directed the movies in a "safe" way. He just made movie-versions of the books rather than making them into actual movies. Its hard to explain, but I think Cuaron's style will intrigue more people who aren't necessarily Harry Potter lovers into watching the movie.
