Garth from Dark Hroizons
, is reporting that Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will have a running time of 142 minutes, or two hours and twenty-two minutes. This information comes directly from the distributor but may include the credits, which bumps up the 135 minute figure previously reported
.
Of course, this is considered a rumor until officially confirmed by Warner Bros.

Hmmm. The other one clocked in at 2 hours, 41 minutes. So i guess this one is shorter. But as long as the movie is good, i don't care!

while its better than before, it still strikes me as short. I mean, the book has a lot of important stuff happening in it so I would hate it if they chop a lot out... We'll see though. They've done a pretty good job so far.

Nowadays, an epic film must have a running time of at least over two hours in order to receive such a title. As long as the the third film surpassed 120 minute mark, I would tolerate the length of the film. That being said, I saw the movie in this time frame: 30 minutes into the film we return to classes at Hogwarts. 90 minutes into the film the climax begins, which occupies a third of the entire running time. Thus far, we have heard little about cuts in the adaptation other than that of Oliver Wood and the combining of the last two Hogsmeade visits into one, though June Fourth will confirm how many changes Steve Kloves made in the script. I estimate that they can squeeze Goblet of Fire AND Order of the Phoenix in less than three hours (Goblet of Fire being only one minute longer than Chamber of Secrets) if they combine and cut events in the sub-plots without losing the essence of the novel.
I have faith in the producers, Steve Kloves, and Alfonso Vuaron that they have managed to capture the essence of the novel in the film: the Marauder's, their tragedy, and the loyalty Harry feels for his parents. That's the heart of the book three undoubtedly... If that's there, who would really care whether they moved some events around a little?

As long as the movie is good i dont care what length it is. although i think it should be a least 2:30 to 3 hours long. i hope the goblet of fire is 3 hours long or more. the lord of the rings was 3:30 hours long and nobody complained. so i think that 2:20 is pretty good.

I honestly thought that COS was just that little bit too long although to make this one nearly half an hour shorter I know I will be wanting that little bit more but ah - better than 135mins!

I am waiting for WB's official confirmation because I wouldn't wanna get excited about it being 142 minutes when its not. I do however hope it is more than 135 mins, as it was said previously. The more Harry the better.

That would be extremely exciting if it really was longer and it wasn't just the credits. It really bugs me when they have to make it shorter. Don't they know we would go see it anyway??!?!

2H 22M?
Man, that's way too short!
I'd sit through an 8 hour Potter film!
We can only hope that GOF will be longer than 2H 22M...
I just don't get how they can condense a immense book like that into that short amount of time!
Yet the Titanic movie(The Titanic sunk in 1 hour [or around that time {it's an estimate}]) is longer than the Harry Potter movies that took place over a whole school year!
I just don't get it...

I would definitely watch if they made a movie that didn't leave anything out. It would be an actual event with intermissionS and snacks and a discussion after. What a great idea.
