Update: Guess who may be playing Voldemort? Popular (11147)

Source: CBBC Newsround

CBBC Newsroundopens in new window reports that John Malkovichopens in new window could be playing Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which currently has a running time for the script of up to four hours according to a newspaper report.

Malkovich is well known for playing bad guys in films and will share the role with a computer-generated image of the villain.

According to the Daily Expressopens in new window newspaper:

He will only play Voldemort once the character has regained strength in the film though. At the start of the fourth book, Voldemort has been reduced to a small, helpless creature, which will be created by a computer.

He is currently in the UK filming The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which is scheduled to be released in June 2005.

Warner Bros. has not confirmed or denied this rumor yet, but we'll update as soon as we hear anything.

UPDATE: CBBC Newsroundopens in new window are now reporting that 'Warner Bros has killed off the rumor that actor John Malkovich will play Lord Voldemort in the Goblet Of Fire.' Very fast denial by Warner Bros & considering that the Daily Express was the paper to report this story first, I would take the movie length as rumor also.

I would really like John Malkovich be Voldermot, he would be good for that part. Also I don't care if it is 4 hours, it could be as long atleast we don't get bored.

He'd be a good choice, but i agree... he's not British.. which is a big bummer.....
Well.. he'd be better than Rowna Atkinson as Voldemort.. lets put it like that....
Then again.. it wouldn't be the fist time WB has casted badly in the HP movies.......

Yes John Malkovich (right spelling) would be a great guy to play You-Know-Who! I think he'd be perfect. Pretty cool. I was wondering who would play him!

Too bad he would have been a great Voldermont. And 4 hours would have been awesome. Its kinda sad that the book is so thick because they are going to have to cut so much out for the movie. The book was great though and the movie should be too.

That would be cool. But, I will not believe anything until the rumors are confirmed. I've been tricked way to many times. Like, I was one of those who thought that the Mr. Beans rumor was true. *shudder*

Imdb has an article, John Malkovich has just signed to play Voldemort. The link is on the main page and if you go to the article it tells about Malkovich being Voldie after the transformation. I think he is very good at playing very bad people.

I honestly have never seen any of his movies so I don't know if he would be a good fit for Voldemort. I'm sure they will make a good choice for it though. I'll have to watch some of his movies to find out more about him!

I personally believe that Malkovich can totally play Voldemort! He certainly has the cold and sinister look that is neede to play Voldemort. He's a great actor and who cares if he's from Illinois (I'm from Chicago)? It's about who can play this character to it's best!

I don't really care who plays Voldemort right now (lie, lie) I just want to know who it is so everyone can decide if he'll be really good or terrible or whatever. That John guy would probably be okay, but since apparently it isn't him, I'll just have to wait for the next rumor to be started.

I don't think he really looks the part.

But they do use a lot of makeup now...

I mean, look at Dan in some of the pictures! He's practically wearing blush and lipstick!

Oh well, it doesn't matter if he looked the part or not...

I guess the paper forgot the Brits only rule!

Pleassssse! John Malkovich???? Number 1, he's not British. Number 2, he too fat. I see Voldythingy as a really thin man. Malkovich is too heavy boned for the role.

I have just finished listening to the US Audio Book of SS and the picture of Jim Dale shows the type for Voldemort. Mr. Dale is very thin and was born in the British Isles. The only drawback to him is that he has an impish face. The only acting I have seen him do was Barnum on the Broadway Stage and a couple of Disney movies and he's good.

John Malkovich as Voldemort? He is an excellent actor no doubt, but he is so not perfect for this role. He's too old and too american. And the duration of the movie will be 4 hours? I would rather watch this on DVD, then, in the comfort of my own home, rather than watching it in the cineplex.
