CBBC Newsround
reports that John Malkovich
could be playing Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which currently has a running time for the script of up to four hours according to a newspaper report.
Malkovich is well known for playing bad guys in films and will share the role with a computer-generated image of the villain.
According to the Daily ExpressHe will only play Voldemort once the character has regained strength in the film though. At the start of the fourth book, Voldemort has been reduced to a small, helpless creature, which will be created by a computer.
Warner Bros. has not confirmed or denied this rumor yet, but we'll update as soon as we hear anything.
UPDATE: CBBC Newsround
are now reporting that 'Warner Bros has killed off the rumor that actor John Malkovich will play Lord Voldemort in the Goblet Of Fire.' Very fast denial by Warner Bros & considering that the Daily Express was the paper to report this story first, I would take the movie length as rumor also.

OH MY GOODNESS! I didnt actually picture anyone like John Malkovich playing Voldemort, I always saw some unknown obscure actor doing that. I think if we're too familiar with the actor who DOES play Voldemort, the authenticity of the character will just *SZZHOOOOO!* fly out the window IoI
But *ahem* I suppose he could play a could Voldemort..

Very nice. He would be a fine choice for the part. It would be nice if GOF were 4 hours but that makes this rumor less credible.

I think John Malkovich would do a great job as Voldemort. The part of this that I am grasping is the possibility of a four hour movie. Does this mean we actually may get a movie that isn't cut short just because. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up but too late.

I could definitely see him playing the part! But, I also thought that the cast had to be all British...?? And it would be great if the movie truly were 4 hours - that would hopefully mean nothing important is cut out!

Rococoed says:
As I haven't seen any of the movies he has starred in, I cannot evaluate their decision, had it been true, to cast him as Voldemort until they release the first trailer for the film a year from now. Thankfully, they'll likely keep their casting for may of the characters in the film for several months into filming like they did with Trelawney. I hope Mike Newell doesn't litter the film with famous actors from Hollywood. I always want to see unknown actors playing roles in the Harry Potter films to improve the quality of the movie by distracting the audinece away from the celebrities.
Which newspaper confirmed that the film woud run a quarter of an hour longer than Gone With The Wind? I doubt Warner Bros. would let the film surpass even 200 minutes. I estimate that the fourth film can, and more importantly, will run around the same length as Chamber of Secrets. Let me see how they could squeeze both the fourth and fifth movies into a 165 minute time-frame: thirty minutes for events before school, forty-five minutes for each semester at Hogwarts, and 45 minutes for the climax and conclusion.

Well, even if Warner Brothers' shot that down extremely fast, he would have been an AWESOME Voldemort. He's a great actor.
I wonder who they'll actually get to play Voldy anyways, I'm extremely anxious to see that casting decision...

You know, with long films, they really need to have an intermission. I love them, but so many people have to visit the loo and all that. I personally plan, but hey, an intermission extends the fun/suspense!

Well, he definitely could do a better job than Rowan Atkinson, , but I guess we won't have a chance to see it since WB has stopped the rumor already. Well, WB, if you'd just tell us the cast list, we wouldn't have to create rumors!

John Malkovich? Who decided he could play a part in an ALL BRITISH CAST movie?
In my experience, Malkovich has a terrible accent problem. Take for instance The Man in the Iron Mask. Everyone esle has glorious accents, and great dramatic acting. I find Malkovich's part to be dull and forced.
While he is a good actor, he is an AMERICAN actor. Which means this is a rumour and only a rumour.
I sure would like to believe the 4 hour script part...

I think he would be great, but I doubt it is true. As many pointed out he is not British. This would certainly be a change in policy for the production company.
As for 4 hours....YES!!!! Anything less would not do justice to the book.
