:
RS: Did you feel intimidated doing the third part of Harry Potter because of the unavoidably comparison?
Cuarón: No. When they sent me the script, I was very ignorant about Harry Potter. I hadn’t read any of the books or seen any of the movies, until producer David Heyman asked me to please read it, so I did, and I saw great possibilities. I had a conversation with Guillermo del Toro, since I was having doubts about doing it, so he told me that I should do it if I could serve the material completely. In a way it was an interesting exercise for my ego. This time I tried to understand the story and the material. The cool thing was that the universe that it was all ready created made me feel very happy and very calm. The same thing with the cast, that it was already established. Better yet, the cool thing was to make the evolution of the series.

From AZCentral.com
:
"This is pretty much a film about identity," Cuarón said in his easy but heavily accented English. He had returned to his office down the hall in the SoHo building where post-production work was proceeding feverishly. The shoes were off again. Raking his fingers through his slightly demonic beard, he slumped on one of the sofas, near a huge pile of toys he keeps on the floor for his toddling daughter and any other children who happen to drop by.
"It's about a kid trying to come to terms with being a teenager, with being 13 and having an awareness of things," Cuarón continued. "It's the moment when you realize that the monster is not under the bed or in the closet, but inside you - and the only weapon to fight that monster also resides inside you."

From what we have seen so far in the previews... this is going to be the best HP movie ever, I think. I was quite excited to see Daniel actually ACTING! (not to offend people there, but you have to admit, his acting skills were less that perfect up to this point.) So hopefully, we shall all see it on June 4 and be overly excited because it was fantastic. (crosses fingers)

Like Choralee, how Cuaron views the books with such depth, particularly how he views the third as the darkest in the series, goes against the major view of the fans yet still has given the final product of the third film a great substance in the direction. As much as I want the movies to capture the books in the purist of ways, I embrace how he knew to concentrate on the heart of book three, Harry's parents and the Marauders. Who really cares whether a few scenes in regard to the subplots have been combined as long as the main theme of the book remains in the final cut? Any fan who considers the third novel as their favorite ought to know where the heart of the third installment lies... And Cuaron has told us that he focused on that in this film, according to these interviews. This fills my appetite for loyalty to the books.
From the trailers I know that this film holds much more cinematic dignity than the first two did under the direction of Cuaron... Also, from the stills and trailers we have, we know that most of the scenes in the novels still exist in the film, though some have been combined in order to avoid repetition. Note to those who hate Cuaron's direction of the third film: ever heard of Steve Kloves? He's the one most, if not entirely, responsible for the changes in terms of the changes to the story within the film. Please quit criticizing for the minor departures by waiting until June fourth to see how well he has done with the third film.

Very well-said. This is the main theme of the books, and I'm glad to see Cuaron understood that. The more I hear, the more I get excited to see POA. It sounds like he has done a wonderful job in translating this part of the story.

I haven't seen any of Cuaron's movies either, but the previews do look really great. He does have a very different style though, but i think it'll still be really great. From the little i've seen, and the lot's of information i've read and heard, i think this will be a great addition to the other two films.

I agree with Minnie20 he does add random stuff but...
1.This random stuff is gonna make PoA the best HP film so far
2.He's obviously allowwed to put this random stuff in (meaning JK her self has said he could)
3.His style suits the dark, unique film this one is going to be
Sorry, for putting my views accross but i think it needs to be sed
Thank You :D

Cuaron is a strange man, but he is without a doubt a man with a vision, and from what I've seen of PoA so far that seems to be a good thing.
I'm glad he did PoA; it doesn't seem as... well, childish as the others. There's more for the grown-up audiences in this one, and I love that.

Well, i love Alfonso, i dont know if any of you have had the opportunity to see any of his movies... I love Y TU MAMÁ TAMBIEN, and i also love Great Expectations. However, i am wondering something: He says he is deeply inlfuenced by the Dogma 98 movement (which is one of my fav movements, i mean, i love Dancer In The Dark). I wonder if some of that influence will be shown in PoA... THAT WOULD BE REALLY INTERESTING. Just imagine: All of the shots made Camera-in-hand, the only light in the movie being that which has in the natural environment while shooting, the same with sound, strong emotions portrayed by the characters... WOW IT WOULD BE AMAZING!!! ALFONSO TE AMO ERES D LOS MEJORES DIRECTORES MEXICANOS, ES UN ORGULLO SER TU PAISANA...
NO HAY MAYOR ORGULLO QUE SER UN CHAROLASTRA (am i wrong Alfonso?)
