The official site
for JK Rowling has been completely revamped.
Gone is the list of her publishers worldwide. The site is now filled with information that will interest all fans of Harry Potter including news on book 6.
Check out how her venture into MuggleNet's chat room went and if you're especially smart you may be able to navigate her site to find out some clues about book 6.
Her welcome note:
“Until very recently, JKRowling.com
was a list of links to my publishers – boring, I think you’ll agree. So I thought I’d liven it up a little.
I received so many thousands and thousands of letters these days that it is impossible to read, let alone answer, them all. A proper website seems like a great way to communicate directly with Harry Potter fans. Everything on here was written by ME, J.K. Rowling. This is where I can tell you the truth about rumours or news stories, where I can share the extra information I Haven’t put in the books, where I can give you hints and clues about what’s going to happen to Harry next, and where I can announce I’ve finished book six…and no, that’s not going to happen very soon.
Occasionally the Dark Mark will flash at you. This is a SPOILER WARNING. It refers only to information hidden in book five, The Order of the Phoenix - if you haven’t yet finished reading the other four, proceed at your peril!
Anyway, I really hope you enjoy wandering around my desk (which was specially tidied for your visit). Don’t know anything over, please. And watch out for Peeves.
With love from JK Rowling
(Jo to you)

Hermione5: You're welcome (re: previous inquiry), but for the life of me I can't figure out how a number can come from the Ministry of Magic. Is the number somewhere on one of the pages? I've been squinting at the bulletin board numbers thus far and no avail. (Maybe my eyes are just baaaad.)
Luckily... I found there is something to that room w/ the door. (See avatar, if interested.) But... I'm trying to remember exactly what I did. :(

So this is my very first post, HI!
I've been sitting on this webpage forever, I've looked through everything, I have 4 certificates, I saw Peeves 2 times, once on the desk top and once in the room with the door that won't open, and i received a phonecall...
So what i found out through all this is...
In that secreet room with the door...
Patience is the key.

eudaemonia:The number you have to call is not to be found on the website. If you read book 5 carefully, you must know how can the guests enter the Ministry of Magic from the telephone box. Now I hope you got it! As for Peeves, the avatar is great, but unfortunately I still didn't see it myself. If it pops in your head, please tell me how you made him appear! Oh and sorry, I couldn't answer earlier, as we are in a VERY different time zone (I live in Hungary). So anyway thanks for your help, and hope I could help too. :)

Alright I got on the site, but another problem has arrived. Where there is I guess a picture, is just a box with a red X in the corner, anyone know how to get on the not text only version? You are welcome to email me if you have any ideas

I finally got the site to work, but I had to go to www.jkrowling.net instead of .com
If you are having trouble, please try that.

OK - I have all four scrapbook extras, Peeves wrote on the mirror by the "Do Not Disturb Door" and also knocked over the pens on the main page. Anything I'm missing (aside from actually entering the "Do Not Disturb Door")?

I thought the site was awesome and a definite improvement from the old one. I liked the "Extra Stuff" page but I hate websites that use fancy design like that. I had to hunt around for the links. I know she was trying to make it unique and different but it's a standard rule of web-page making that the info should be easy to get to. But it was a cool site. And we'll be able to get frequent (or at least more often than the ones we usually get) updates and it'll be facts. I hate reading a whole bunch of stuff on what's happening in Book 6 & not knowing whether it's true or not, now we don't have to worry if the person posting the info really does know someone who knows someone who knows J.K.'s publisher. :-)

I've been to a bunch of sites and most people seem to think that the "Do not disturb" door won't open until the sixth book is finished. I for one don't know how long I can wait! I've been reading the books since they came out, and I'm pretty much against the movies since they've delayed the books so much.
To the fool who said "padfoot5312:I cannot believe that people who consider themselves 'fans' don't know that number by heart." (found it in another girls post), anyone who DID memorize the pay phone number is a little bit too obsessed and should check themselves into a psychiatric ward. Thats taking things a little too far.
To those who have asked a lot, the four secrets are...
1- The four ingredients on the "blank" scrap of paper
2- The magic (hint) cell phone number
3- The key behind the question mark book
4- The two medals in the trophy room
Takes a bit more work than that, but they are pretty difficult to do on your own. I haven't heard of anyone finding more than four, although personally I just can't seem to stop exploring the site.

Anna K.: if you have a pop-up blocker, you won't be able to get beyond the language choice page to actually enter the site. If that's the case, try disabling the pop-up blocker and see if that works.
Good luck!

I found all 4, but...
Why the light can be switch on/off?
What's the point of the butterfly? I saw it changing color, why?
What's the point of Peeves? I "saw" him passing all 4 room and the main page.
Why the clock (on main page) goes mad?
Why the cellphone still rings? How can I speak to the caller?
And finally, the door... :D
Uh...mayby I should just get some sleep. I stay up all night trying to figure out all the hints. ;)

I have found four things for my scrapbook: the early page of Philosopher's Stone, the page of doodling, the first type manuscript of Philosopher's Stone and the ancient drawings. I have found the secret key behind the book with the question mark in the Links section, I found the cell phone number, I've put the gold medals with the question marks on them into the empty boxes (although there is still an empty box left... is this for anything?) in the Fan Sites section, I and forget how I got the other one. I've also found the picture on the white board in the Extras section and I've found the leaves, feather, potion and I don't know if I found the spider because the only spider that I can find is the one in the Fan Sites section, and when I click on it, it doesn't do anything. I've never seen Peeves, or ahd the pens knocked over, or anything, and I can't get past the Do Not Disturb door. I also don't think that I've heard the phone ring at all... but I have heard the door bell ring, the dog bark and a car drive by. I have found that you van turn the light on the desk on and off, the light by the Do Not Disturb door can be turned on and off and the radio in the Extras section can be turned on and off. So, what else do I have to find, and how will I get to see Peeves, or what is beyond the door. PS. Apparently, someone hacked into the website and revealed what was behind the door... does anyone know what was there?

I have know seen Peeves knock over the vase and write on the mirror by the Do Not Disturb door and something knock over the pens and fly across the main screen, while making the watch face go all crazy. I have also had the phone ring, but when I tried to answer it, nothing happened. Is there anything else on the site to see? Also, I haven't really seen any clues to book 6... only extra information and background info on some characters and stuff. I really want to know why there is an empty medal box in the Fan Sites section, and what would have happened if I had put one of the medals in that box instead of one of the others. Any answers?

harrypotterisgod2552: I tryed to put the medal in the box on the upper shelf, but it didn't accepted it in there.
I think the spider was on the main page but if you found all 4 then you probably found the right spider.
