J.K. Rowling gave a video interview
to Reuters in which she discusses Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban being the best movie so far. This interview expands on her comments previously posted from USA Today where she credits Alfonso Cuarón with everything and says that Prisoner was the easiest book to write.
An excerpt from the video:
"Nobody who's read the books is going to be at all disappointed, he has taken essentials, and I'd be very surprised if people didn't find their favorite parts in that film."

This makes me feel much better about POA, which I haven't seen yet. New director . . . new ideas . . . a bit scary for me. But if Ms. Rowling says it's good . . it'll be good. And yes, POA is still my favorite book, so far!

That's great. I'm glad that JK's pleased with it. I'm sure she'd be the biggest critic. Especially if someone was trying to mutilate her baby.(the book) I'll trust her judgement for now, but I'm sure it's going to be a great film.

My guess is that the hints that Alphonso gave in the movie concern the budding romantic relationship between Ron & Hermione...
And maybe the idea that Lupin was once in love with Lily (hinted at in the dialogue of the film)...but as so many others have stated, a person can say things like Lupin said about Lily without being in love with her.
But, heck, I'd like to see more about Lupin and his life in the books...so I can hope!

I personally think that it's a good thing that JK rowling thinks that the movie is good. It is her baby, and someone can totally kill it when making a movie. It's a good thing she likes it.
