The recent news that the title of book six would be Harry Potter and the Pillar of Storgé have been floating around the Web for a few days, but author J.K. Rowling has confirmed
what many fans have suspected all along - that the rumors about the title were a hoax.
According to her spokesperson the title is "definitely a hoax" and now Rowling has updated her site
with her take on the rumor, as well as answered some frequently asked questions people have sent her -- check out the FAQ & Rumours section.
In her own words:
I am trying very hard not to feel offended that anyone thought this was possible. 'Storgé', for crying out loud. Come on, people, get a grip.
Also, thanks to MuggleNet
for letting us know that the 'Do Not Disturb' sign has been removed from the door and it opens to reveal a brick wall
-- will hitting the right sequence reveal something (like the real title to book 6)? Go and see!
If you just can't wait, highlight the following text to read the secret text: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
New: Read our exclusive interview with the man behind the Storgé hoax.

I knew it had to be a rumor... JK wouldn't commit to something that odd for a title.
I'm having trouble getting on her other site... I will have to try it again to see if I can.... hopefully it won't be too busy.

That was so cool of JKR to give us the real title after having been hoaxed like that. I think it shows that she really cares about her fans. (That, or maybe she set it up)

ok, So. Any ideas on the half blood prince? Is it Dean Thomas of Seamus who's a half blood? Other important (male) half blood: Voldemort himself, hagrid (well, half wizard half giant, it counts)...

i think "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" could mean that the book goes more into the origins of voldermort, and how the first war in the wizarding world began. what do you guys think? maybe? possibly? not a chance?

I swear, I've read all five books like six times each! Now, shortly after reading the fifth book I hopped on to get information about Book 6, and I had the book delivered on the day it was released, finishing it no more then two days later. I had read an article about a few possible ideas, titles, and new characters. But I'd really rather not live on rumors, where are the facts? I'm patiently waiting for the sixth book to have a tenative release date.

Ha... okay, I don't know about either title, they both sound pretty... odd. Maybe she's yanking our chain again, seeing if we'll fall for it. My first reaction to this new 'title'... Mark Evans? Just what sprang to mind.

Half Blood Prince, eh? That is way cool; it just makes me more excited for the book to come out. You realize that this means it's even closer to it actually coming out, she wouldn't release the title if it wasn't coming out relatively soon.

Well glad to know that it is a conformed rumor. It would be a difficult word for younger readers to understand Storge. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince....not bad. Defeinitely see how that relates to Chamber of Secrets....and HBP sounds much better than PoS...haha

THANK YOU JK!!! Wow - what a title - Half Blood Prince! It's certainly odd, nothing I would have expected, and doesn't quite sound like her other titles. If anything, I would have been more likely to belibe the PIllar of Storge. I wondr who the prince could be? Harry? It certainly is a starnge title that gives little away.
