The recent news that the title of book six would be Harry Potter and the Pillar of Storgé have been floating around the Web for a few days, but author J.K. Rowling has confirmed
what many fans have suspected all along - that the rumors about the title were a hoax.
According to her spokesperson the title is "definitely a hoax" and now Rowling has updated her site with her take on the rumor, as well as answered some frequently asked questions people have sent her -- check out the FAQ & Rumours section.
In her own words:
I am trying very hard not to feel offended that anyone thought this was possible. 'Storgé', for crying out loud. Come on, people, get a grip.
Also, thanks to MuggleNet for letting us know that the 'Do Not Disturb' sign has been removed from the door and it opens to reveal a brick wall -- will hitting the right sequence reveal something (like the real title to book 6)? Go and see!

People who have trouble getting the title use the picture of the wall found on mugglenet.com. There are five bricks. The sequence: topmost right, bottommost right, the one below the highest brick, the lowest, the highest. Then when you get to the room, click on the fan on the table.

I was kinda disappointed when I found out that the title was a hoax, but I'm ok now. I doubt that the title of the 6th book (which I've already seen) will be the official one because JK loves playing with us. I think she laughs at us when we try to guess something about her books. I don't think she'll reveal the real title for awhile.

I think everyone thought it was a hoax, now were all proven right...it must be realy annoying for Rowling to have people trying to spoil her secrets. I havent been on that site before, but if the "wall" does reveal so called "titles" for the book..surely they cant be the real one!? I would have thought shed keep it a secret for as long as she could.

WOW!!! That's pretty cool... I like it. That's probably the next title though. JKR wouldn't put it up like that if it weren't. She probably thought it would take MUCH longer to get in that door, at least long enough to let a little suspense build...

Aha! I knew there was something fishy about that title! When I first saw it, I was thinking, what the heck is 'Storge'? But then I saw the real title earlier and was very much relieved. Finally, the really real title of book 6!!!
