Book 6 title confirmed by JK Rowling Popular (66347)

Source: JKRowling.com via The Leaky Cauldron

It's official. The title of book 6 will be Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince according to author J.K. Rowling, who officially confirmed the name of book 6opens in new window under the News section of her Web site:

Well, the door opened at last and I showed you the title of book six - the genuine title, the title that will appear on the published book, the title I have been using in my head for ages and ages. Unfortunately, however, the door opened on the very same day the 'Pillar of Storgé' hoaxer struck, which left a lot of Harry Potter fans bemused as to whether I was having a joke at their expense by posting another fake title to 'teach hoaxers a lesson', something I certainly wouldn't do, as it would simply frustrate, confuse or annoy the 99.9% of you who aren't hoaxers! I tried to give a clear hint that the title behind the door was the real one by making the 'Toenail' joke as well (see 'Rumours'). But just to clear up matters once and for all…

Information you take directly from this site will be truthful and accurate (I might occasionally joke, but as time goes on, you'll learn to tell when I'm joking). Do not trust anybody else claiming to have found information on this site that you cannot access, however seemingly convincing the images they provide to support their story.

I never post information on the site that I do not want fans to read immediately. In other words, anybody claiming to have 'discovered' a message that wasn't due for release yet is lying. There was never anything meaningful behind the door until the 'Do Not Disturb' sign came off!

Read the rest of what she has to say, including who this "Half Blood Prince" might be (or definitely isn't).

I'm so excited that atlast I found out the title I did this brick thing on J.K.'s site and the title appeared in some kind of parchement.Anyways thats really great,I'm really waiting for the book 2 come out in summer 2005.But to be honest I prefer the Storge title better the word prince is a little childish and it makes me feel like its a fairytale or something.
But never mind.....Whats important is to figure who is the HBP.
J.K. said on her site its not Harry nor Voldemort and its not a new charcter cause J.K. said it has a relation with COS and OOTP and I even heard she was palnning 2 make this the title of COS.So who do you reckon is the HBP?
I'm really trying 2 figure out who is he and its really hard.I keep on asking people but the don't know anything they just keep making up things.

The half blood Prince is definately Hagrid. In Chamber of Secrets when Malfoy calls Hermione a mudblood Hagrid tells her that the malfoys are what you call "purebloods".And by saying this he is obviously half blood.Again in OOTP when Hagrid is DRUNK in the three broomsticks he tells Harry that he isnt important when really he is.Trust me Hagrid will be the half blood prince.P.S sirious is NOT really dead and Harry will be able to comunocate with him in book 6.

Voldemort and Harry Fan says:

I read the thing about JKR confirming the title Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and just got offline and shoved it out of my mind. I was watching TV later and out of nowhere my brain exclaimed, "THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE IS JAMES POTTER!!!" It was literally like a voice talking to me, so it just might be some kind of sign...it sounds really weird, but that's who I now think it is. We don't know that much about Harry's geneology, so his father just might be half-blood. When I saw the title, I immediately thought it had to be Harry or Voldemort, but it sounds like JKR said it wasn't. It also might be Dumbledore...I'm sure she won't tell us anything until the book! I can't wait!!! Just another out-of-the-blue thing: I think Aunt Petunia isn't really a muggle. I have thought this since I read the Goblet of Fire, and it just always seems like she's hiding something. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince needs to come out soon! I'm tired of waiting!

Well, I think The HBP will be Mark Evans. If you don't remember who he is, read the 1st chapter of OoTP again. he's 10 years old in book 5, so, he'll be 11 in book 6. And his last name is the same as Lily's

But I'm not sure anyway. Can't wait for HBP!!

Voldemort and Harry Fan says:

I know this has almost nothing to do with the title, but it's something about HBP. I am almost positive that Mr. Weasley will be Minister of Magic in the last two books. Ron said something in OotP about something being as likely as his dad becoming Minister of Magic. I can't remember the exact wording, but the other thing happened, so I am almost certain Arthur will be Minister. If you reread the first five books you will notice that almost all of Ron's sarcastic comments come true. I think I read somewhere that JKR said there'd be a new Minister in the sixth book, so I'm betting on Weasley. I don't know whether Fudge will be killed, resign, or be kicked out, but I am willing to bet he has less than a year left in office...

Voldemort and Harry Fan-

Ron said that Gryffindor had as much of a chance to win the quidditch cup as his dad did becoming minister of Magic. And i agree, ever since GoF i had a feeling Arthur would be taking over MOM in time. He will defintely be the minister in book 7, most likely book 6 also. I think Percy will redeem himself by playing a large role in the order.

Voldemort and Harry Fan says:

Right now, I'd say the three most justified guesses for Prince are Dean Thomas, Mark Evans, and Albus Dumbledore. It could easily be anybody else, but I have read the comments posted here and say these three are likely.

To continue the conversation about Fudge I will bring up Molly Weasley's comment near the end of GoF. I quote: "'We know what Fudge is. It's Arthur's fondness for Muggles that has held him back at the Ministry all these years. Fudge thinks he lacks proper wizarding pride.'" This quote suggests Fudge is either a squib or a Muggle-hater. His fondness for Muggles could be holding him back like to make him be nice to Fudge or something. It also could mean that his fondness held him back in rank, keeping him from being an important person in the Ministry. I'm not sure...somebody respond to this.

At least the title is confirmed - that is wonderful news. Last time, we knew about a year before the book came out (I think) so hopefully the next book isn't top far away! I'm not to sure I like the title though, it soudns very un-potterish, but I'm sure I will adore it once I read the book.

I am soooo happy!!! Jk is the best....i mean, it's thanks to her we've got Harry POtter!!

Ok. This is my theory as to who the half blood prince is:
I have 2 ideas:

1. Ron - Yes, i know he isn't a half blood, but i've begun to look at the title in a new way. I mean, Half blood could just just represent the idea os being less (as Ron is always made to feel less to Harry) In this book. he could begin to shine (with Hermione?) and so JK calls him prince.

2. Neville- same theory for Ron

let me know what you think. little_miss_naughty711@hotmail.com is my e-mail address if you want 2 e-mail me

The HBP could also be Tom Riddle.I am aware that JKR said that it is not Harry or VOLDEMORT.However in the chamber of secrets at the end Harry tells Dobby that his warning WAS indead about Voldemort even though Dobby said that it wasent Voldemort who was planning bad things at hogwarts.Perhaps this is the link JK is talking about,it also could be a trick and she could just be tryin to catch people out.If you think about it she wouldnt be pretending as when he was younger he wasent voldemort he was Tom Riddle.Does this make any kind of sense???
