Just a few days after the announcement that book 6 of JK Rowling's blockbuster series would be Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, two online booksellers have created the ability to sign up to be the first to know when the book is ready for release:

I signed up, but I suppose there is little point as I am sure that HPANA will be there straight away with the news. But still, it will be exciting to get an email from them (I chose Barnes adn Noble as it sounds like Flourish and Blotts) and when I receive it I can go dancing through the street again!!!

I'm not going to sign up... I get enough junk email as it is, and I'm sure I would just get a ton more by signing up. I'll just have to rely on Hpana to find out when it will be released. Besides, it's not like knowing when the book is coming out will help me to get it any sooner than if I find out later.

hmm... I don't know if I hopped on the band-wagon late last year, or if I was aware earlier the time OofP came out... But I think it was only a few months away when they allowed us to sign up for notifications... Perhaps 3-5...

I'm signed up! For OoTP I even paid a deposit at two different stores so I could be sure I could get it wherever I was when it was released! I don't think it will actually be released until Summer 2005 though.
