Author JK Rowling accepted an honorary degree from the University of Edinburgh
this afternoon.
The Harry Potter novelist, who lived in the Scotland capital city while writing the first book in the series, picked up a similar honor in 2000 from Edinburgh's Napier University.
"I am delighted and honoured to be receiving an honorary degree from the University of Edinburgh, my adopted home city," said Rowling in February.

I wonder if we need to call her Dr. Rowling now! I guess she will always be Jo to her fans, like she says on her website. It's a great thing for readers to see her being given literary awards from universities. It can be a goal setting challenge to those who want to be writers when they see her being rewarded for really hard work. She didn't just get them because she's famous. She EARNED them because she worked hard and never gave up! Go Jo!
