Author JK Rowling accepted an honorary degree from the University of Edinburgh
this afternoon.
The Harry Potter novelist, who lived in the Scotland capital city while writing the first book in the series, picked up a similar honor
in 2000 from Edinburgh's Napier University.
"I am delighted and honoured to be receiving an honorary degree from the University of Edinburgh, my adopted home city," said Rowling in February.

Professor Scoots says:
That is very cool for her to receive such a degree! Not that she needs it, but it is nice to see her recognized for her work. I wonder what factors lead to this decision? I mean the fact that is wildly successful, very wealth and all - how does that matter relative to the college?
Anyway - great to see her in public.

Congratulations Jo! Wow an honorary degree. It was about time the university awarded Jo's brilliant mind. Too bad the graduation couldn't have taken place in the last week of March. I was in Edinburgh then for a school trip. That would have been so cool to see JK there. It's a very beautiful city.
