According to a local resident near Berkhamsted, England
, filming for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has been going on in the area for the past few days.
Russell Brown, a resident of nearby Beacon Hill, came across a "large film crew" and found that it was in fact Warner Bros., filming what appeared to be the scene where Harry, the Weasleys and the Diggorys meet at a certain portkey to get themselves to the Quidditch World Cup:
On Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th July 2004 I was happy to come across a large film crew on one of the hills just outside my village (Beacon Hill which is located in the Ivinghoe hills near Berkhamsted). On further inspection I quickly found out that it was in fact Warner Brothers productions, and they were filming the 4th installment of Harry Potter.
From where I was standing I was able to see the characters of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Mr. Weasley, George and Fred Weasley, and what I have come to believe to be Amos and Cedric Diggory. It looked like they were filming the scene where they are travelling to the portkey, as at the top of the hill stood one large boot which all the characters were walking towards and all looked rather exhausted after the sixth take.
The main actors Dan [Radcliffe], Emma [Watson], Rupert [Grint], and Bonnie Wright all left the set at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and doubles stepped in and continued working till 8:30 p.m.
The Leaky Cauldron has confirmed
this account through their usual reliable sources. The report exactly matches the book version of events:
"Well, have a lovely time," said Mrs. Weasley, "and behave yourselves," she called after the twins' retreating backs, but they did not look back or answer. "I'll send Bill, Charlie, and Percy along around midday," Mrs. Weasley said to Mr. Weasley, as he, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny set off across the dark yard after Fred and George.
...
They didn't have breath to spare for talking as they began to climb Stoatshead Hill, stumbling occasionally in hidden rabbit holes, slipping on thick black tuffets of grass. Each breath Harry took was sharp in his chest and his legs were starting to seize up when, at last, his feet found level ground.

If I stumbled upon HP, I would scream and start mauling people. Actually no. I would sit on a grassy knoll and watch the festivities. No one else gets to see a scene early, right??

Cool! I'm really curious what they're going to keep in the movie and what's going. Glad the quidditch cup will definitely be there, in some form or another. I hope we get to actually see players in quidditch as it's meant to be played!

Mike Newell seems to be a very good director. The previous directors would have probaly cut out the Portkey scene, and I don't think that this movie should dissapoint fans if they stay with the plot of the book.

Yahoooo! Yippeee! I'm absolutely thrilled this scene will be a part of the film. The experience with the portkey is absolutley critical to Harry's understanding of what happens at the end of the Tri-Wizard Tournament when he and Cedric are catapulted to Voldemort's side via portkey. It sure sounds like the actors were all exhausted; too bad they couldn't have helicoptered them in before the filming so they wouldn't have to climb the hill...of course, that must mean that they actually filmed the climbing of the hill...thrills, oh, thrills...how pathetic is my social life that I'm jumping up and down to hear such trivial information...yet, it is sustaining as we await HBP and film 4.

How awesome it must have been for Mr. Brown to have seen them film the Portkey sequence (as well as to receive our eternal envy). My hype for this film has jumped drastically upon learning of this.
My only dread from this film is that we hear more and more of the quirks of the novel being included, but one must wonder, will the more major elements of the book be addressed, such as the Parting of the Ways?

I love HPANA. You are always getting us interesting little bits of news. I'm glad they are not cutting the Stoatshead Hill portkey scene. Of course, it is important to the building of the plot. Berkhamsted looks very colorful.

I love to hear about the movie's progress but man it just makes me more anxious for the film and it's a year away. My friends and family think I'm absolutely mad to talk daily of the details I hear about from this site and then tell them GoF is only about 15 months away. I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets laughed at :D My sister is the worst. When I told her I was going to see PoA in the theaters she said "Oh there's another one. How many are they going to make?" Obviously I was completly insulted by her lack of information on this subject (we both work at a video store and movie geeks) but I filled her in. She says she's going to have to hurry up and watch the first three so she can go see the fourth in the theater. I told her she should read the books first then she'd appreciate the movies more. I bet she never thought we'd both be in our 20s (one of us late 20s) and excited about Harry Potter. She laughed at me the other day because I was rambling on again about GoF, its release date and the release of PoA on DVD. I asked what? She just shook her head and said nothing. I don't care. I love Harry Potter (in book and film) and I'm counting the days until GoF. Keep these great little tidbits coming!
