Two of Tom Riddle's prop diaries used in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets have sold on eBay in a private auction for over $4,000 combined.
An "Original Tom Marvolo Riddle Diary"
received an opening bid of $1,700 but went to the winner (and second bidder) for $2,125. A "special effects" edition
, which featured tubes that squirt black ink through the cover, was purchased for $1,900 using eBay's Buy it Now feature, which caused the auction to close early.
The two books were used during various filming of the second Potter movie in 2002.

Heck, I'd spend a lot of money if I could get a neat prop (not necessarily the diary, of course), or a costume... I want a costume! Meh.

Things like this may be worth tens of thousand of dollars as collectors items in the years to come. This is a pretty good investment because the books were so prominent in the movie. The popularity of the Harry Potter books makes it likely that these items will go up in value. If you open a savings account you get 2-3% interest. Doesn't take much for the buyer to beat this return on his/her/its investment.

Holy crap, that's a lot of money. I don't think I'd pay that much for a diary from the movie. Maybe if JKR wrote a bunch of Harry Potter secrets in it. That'd I'd give my right arm for. Haha.

That is pretty crazy! It is amazing what some fans will spend for Harry Potter stuff! I would just like to say that I just finished watching Peter Pan and it was a GREAT movie! If you like Dan then you will really like Jeremy Sumpter... he is an amazing actor and plays a wonderful Peter Pan!

For a diary?
You spend that much money for a diary? Sure it's not your normal diary, but you could've bought loads of hp stuff with that kinda money!
