Two of Tom Riddle's prop diaries used in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets have sold on eBay in a private auction for over $4,000 combined.
An "Original Tom Marvolo Riddle Diary"
received an opening bid of $1,700 but went to the winner (and second bidder) for $2,125. A "special effects" edition
, which featured tubes that squirt black ink through the cover, was purchased for $1,900 using eBay's Buy it Now feature, which caused the auction to close early.
The two books were used during various filming of the second Potter movie in 2002.

Wow, that's really cool. I was expecting it to go for more though. I was thinking about maybe 3,000 or something. That person is probably very happy right now and probably broke. I wish I had that much money to blow on stuff like that.

Man, some collectors will do anything for a piece of memorabilia. It really makes you wonder how much money they really do burn on collectors items like this one.

I think thats a little sad that people would pay that much for an empty book with a little special effect. I don't know maybe its just me...

If you ask me, 2000 bucks isn't much to spend on something that will likely be worth its weight in gold (hey, I'm thinking they don't weight that much.) It's not a bad investment, and hey, if you don't get much back, a couple k's won't set you back much. I wonder how much it would have gone for if the bidder did not use the buy it now feature. Imagine how much things like Harry's wand would go for!

AAAAH! I would love to have one of those, but I'd hate to spend so much money on them, I mean it's not like there's anything written inside... Still cool, though. Congrats to who bought them!
