First scooped by fan site The Leaky Cauldron
, Warner Bros. today confirmed
that Miranda Richardson
and Ralph Fiennes
have been cast as Rita Skeeter and Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Ralph Fiennes (Red Dragon, Maid in Manhattan, Schindler's List) and Miranda Richardson (The Hours, Sleepy Hollow, The Crying Game) have joined the all-star cast of Warner Bros. Pictures' Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's popular Harry Potter novel series. Fiennes will play Harry Potter's nemesis, the evil Lord Voldemort, and Richardson takes on the role of muckraking journalist Rita Skeeter.
Previously cast as Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher Mad-Eye Moody is Irish actor Brendan Gleeson, who can currently be seen in M. Night Shyamalan's latest film, The Village. CBBC Newsround also points out that Richardson played Hermione
for Comic Relief.

I'm totally thrilled about Miranda Richardson! I hope they make her really gaudy and obnoxious. I'm still wondering how they're going to make LV human. I mean, he becomes human at the end, but in the Riddle House scene (which I'm sure has already been cut) he's like a little snake body and Wormtails carries him around. Even in the graveyard scene he's like a little baby Jesus or something when Wormtail places him in the cauldron. Oh but Ralph will be wonderful and scary, I'm sure. He better have red eyes.

Cool. I hope that they make Ralph Fiennes look really evil for Voldemort's part. I mean, his eyes are already kinda intense, so he ought to make a good Voldemort...we hope.

Ralph is soooo good looking and after "The Red Dragon" we definitely know he can do "evil"! I'm just relieved that the rumors that Mr. Bean was playing Voldemort having been squished for sure!

Well Ralph Fiennes looks like a good choice for Voldemort, and with a bit of make-up Miranda Richardson should do well as Rita Skeeter.

How wonderful! After I first read Goblet of Fire I wondered what actor could pull off such an evil character. Believe it or not, when a friend and I were talking about it I said that I thought Ralph Fiennes would be perfect. That was 4 years ago and I can't believe he's actually the one! He can play evil so convincingly and can transform his handsome face into a demonic visage with just a look out of his eyes. I can't wait!

Damn, I didn't want to know who V was, at least it's not someone I know any better, someone well known wouldn't have been so scary. Oooh, anticipation for this film is building already, and it's perhaps not even out till after HBP!

Swimangel57 - no, Lupin isn't in GOF, you're right! Harry doesn't see him again until he collects him from the Dursleys in OOTP. He doesn't feature much in that book either, but perhaps he will more now that Sirius is gone.

Cool! So we finally know which are the actors to play the most interesting people in the series! AWESOME!I dunno too much about the guy playing Voldemort, never heard of him. I'll try and see the Village to see who it is. I've heard he is a very good actor though. With the special effects, it will look really cool.

I hope Goblet of Fire is a really good movie! I bet it will be. Too bad Alfonso Cuaron didn't come back for this one. And I bet Fiennes will be a good Voldemort. The same for Richardson being Rita Skeeter, but I had thought it was Rosamund Pike who was going to be Rita Skeeter. Oh well.
