JK Rowling attended the Edinburgh International Book Festival today and gave fans some interesting tidbits about the future Potter books as well as the status of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. There was no announcement about the publication date.

According to BBC News Rowling told those gathered that:
Harry would "survive to book seven" but refused to confirm whether he would grow up to be a wizard.

Wait, I think the HPANA header & the exact quote are being a bit misinterpreted by some visitors. It says that Harry will "survive TO book 7," as in UP TO book 7, not "survive book 7" which is a different thing. To say that he'll survive TO book 7 simply means that he'll survive through the end of 6 and make it out alive from that to get onto the beginning of book 7. Surviving through that whole volume is another matter.
I saw all the excited comments and thought, there is no way Jo would have let out the answer to such a central question like that, not before the books actually come out! *laugh*
Anyhoo, glad to hear she's got so much done, although I did think she already had more than half the way she was letting on before. Ah well. This waiting is going to kill us. hehe

I think its too bad Harry doesn't have a Godmother, then he could leave the Dursleys forever! A new character... named McLagan.... cool.... maybe he's the Half Blood Prince! Probably not though. I always love to hear more tidbits from Jo but I'll be darned if I'm not about to burst from anticipation for HBP. I also think it's really cool I'd read several people theorize Abeforth was the barman at Hog's Head before she confirmed it. That's why I love to read everyone's theories on here because you never know when someone has hit the nail on the head :-)
