Many fans awoke today to news that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling had taken down the "Do Not Disturb" sign once again on a door at her official site
.
At first it appears to be an empty room, but there's a bit more to it than that, and the prize is certainly worth the trouble. Here are step-by-step instructions for those who can't be bothered to figure it out on their own:
Highlight the following block of text to read the excerpt here: He looked rather like an old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp.
Thanks to everyone who let us know!

To whoever said that this excerpt is in past tense, that is not necessarily, and most likely not, true. Remember the book is written in 3rd person omniscient and not 1st person. So the only way for this excerpt to be actually of the past, the story would need to be 1st person and you would read the description through Harry's memory. as he remembers seeing the lion. You'll also notice that all of the descriptions of characters the Harry is experiencing in the present are described in past tense. So for all we know, he COULD be the new DADA teacher.

I like the idea that it could be Crookshanks, although the cat seems to be a bit younger than the person being described? And I don't know about the human transformation, I'd have to dig my books back out!

Hmm....I haven't decided who I think she is talking about yet. But I think the half-blood prince is Seamus.
Quick Question- How can you get the moving avatars? I've tried EVERYTHING and I can't. It's really frustrating!

I think that it may be Crookshanks their is somthing curious about that cat. not to mention the description: the mane of hair, tawny is sort of a brownish yellow, and the yellow eyes...but who would crookshanks really be?
Also Crookshanks was at that store for a loong time before hermione bought him, "Scabbers" lived a loonng time.

If you don't mind, the half blood prince is Romulus Lupin for several reasons. I've already stated that his name means a ruler hense the prince thing, and well it just makes sense.

This excites me greatly. I've been trying and trying for months to get that door open. However, I am thwarted every single time...peeves always knocks over the jar in the wrong direction. Either way, I'll keep trying, and although I know everything that is behind the door, I'm still determined to do it myself.

Hmmm. i'm a bit late in posting, i see, but i just read some stuff on rowling's site, and it said:
There is no Romulus Lupin (at least not one who is Remus lupin's twin)
Crookshanks is not an animagus.
So i hope that kinda clears things up.
