Harry Potter author JK Rowling has created a new section
on her official web site to dispel rumors about her work, family and life.
She rates items on a custom scale of "rubbish-ness" and begins with the recent untrue articles about Professor Lockhart being modeled after her ex-husband.
STARTING TO SMELL:
True in essentials, but exaggerated or distorted
EXCESSIVE ADDITIVES:
Grain of truth obscured by thick crust of inaccuracies
RECYCLED:
Untruth that turns up with monotonous regularity
MOULDY:
Old untruth that resurfaces unexpectedly
PURE GARBAGE:
No idea how this made the papers (occasionally funny, though)
TOXIC:
Hurtful, does damage
Update: The Leaky Cauldron has instructions on how to access certain new hidden features on the site as well.

Thats awesome, i love the rating system. I just hope there aren't too many toxic ones though, because thats just sad. I enjoy occasional rumors, they're funny and amusing and get you excited even if you know they arent true. Taking it to a mean hurtful level is just idiotic though and i hope people are sensitive to that and dont do anything they may regret. Anyways im excited about the adding o the site and im gonna go check it out right now!

I think it's a good page for her to add. Some people create rumors without realizing they are hurtfull or with the intention of hurting someone and I think that is wrong.

That will definitely be worth a look. I'll have to make my weekly visit to her site, just to check on it. Jo's so clever - I love her classifications of rubbish. Although, I hope that nothing ever has to be classified as "toxic." I'd hate it if her feelings were personally hurt by a silly Internet rumour.
