Harry Potter author JK Rowling has created a new section
on her official web site
to dispel rumors about her work, family and life.
She rates items on a custom scale of "rubbish-ness" and begins with the recent untrue articles about Professor Lockhart being modeled after her ex-husband.
STARTING TO SMELL:
True in essentials, but exaggerated or distorted
EXCESSIVE ADDITIVES:
Grain of truth obscured by thick crust of inaccuracies
RECYCLED:
Untruth that turns up with monotonous regularity
MOULDY:
Old untruth that resurfaces unexpectedly
PURE GARBAGE:
No idea how this made the papers (occasionally funny, though)
TOXIC:
Hurtful, does damage
Update: The Leaky Cauldron has instructions
on how to access certain new hidden features on the site as well.

I haven't been to JK's site these days, but that rubishness seems wicked. I just love the one who made her site, i just wish i could have some like a twin of that for me.

I'm glad she's taken steps to keep her true fan base informed of what's true and untrue. I'm surprised it took this long. But I'm glad just the same.

I think that's a good idea, because there are a lot of untrue rumors floating around, and they can quite confuse one. It's going to be a useful tool.

That's really fantastic... Mmm... I kinda don't understand what does JK Rowling means by " The funny thing is that occasionally people miss what i have thought are glaringly obvious references to things and people in the real world. "
Any ideas?

I dont know what she means by that either. I swear that somewhere she said that she gets ideas for characters from people that she has met in the real world, but then she said that no characters are based on anyone. Somewhere along the line sombody has lost their way... (probably me missing some important detail).

She's human & she has feelings... Most authors just dismiss all the rubbish written to them but, understandably some are too foul to let pass & fall into the realms of urban legend.

Love the new stuff...I agree that JKR has a great sense of humor, but we see that she can be serious when she needs to be (defending her family, particularly). I am indebted to the clever people who are always finding the hidden things on the site too. I find a bit myself, but I do rely on these reports as well (cheater, I know!)

I think it is sad the world we live in were people will read stuff like that. If people stopped reading tabloids then people would not have to devote sections of their websites to discrediting information.
