Harry Potter author JK Rowling has created a new section
on her official web site
to dispel rumors about her work, family and life.
She rates items on a custom scale of "rubbish-ness" and begins with the recent untrue articles about Professor Lockhart being modeled after her ex-husband.
STARTING TO SMELL:
True in essentials, but exaggerated or distorted
EXCESSIVE ADDITIVES:
Grain of truth obscured by thick crust of inaccuracies
RECYCLED:
Untruth that turns up with monotonous regularity
MOULDY:
Old untruth that resurfaces unexpectedly
PURE GARBAGE:
No idea how this made the papers (occasionally funny, though)
TOXIC:
Hurtful, does damage
Update: The Leaky Cauldron has instructions
on how to access certain new hidden features on the site as well.

I think that this is sort of a bad idea for JK. I mean i really want to know everything about the coming book, but it just seems like this is making it easier to find out more facts about the book. I want the book to still be a suprise, but i also want to know, ARGH! this is so difficult!!

I'm very glad she took the time to dispell some of the rumors going around. It gives us a chance to throw some ideas out, and theorize on new ones.

This is great for her fans, but she shouldn't have to do this because the press keep making stuff up about her. It's a shame they treat people in the public eye like this.

That's hilarious! I'm going to go check out her website right now! I think she has a sly sense of humor, and that's why I think she's so cool, because only she can get away with putting things like that on her website and people won't get offended.
