MuggleNet and the HP Lexicon, both Fan Site Award winners
on JK Rowling's official web site, have posted an open letter
to the Harry Potter author in the hopes that she'll visit again and answer some nagging questions about her books and characters.
First, let us say that we don't want to know any big secrets from upcoming books. What fun would that be? We want to be surprised when we read them. However, there are some more mundane things that we'd love to know. As obsessive as we are, we would love to have some nagging things answered, partly to add missing details into the Lexicon and MuggleNet's pages, but also just because it's fun to learn these kinds of things.
Some of the questions: How many students are there at Hogwarts? How old are Molly and Arthur Weasley? Are there other Gryffindors in Harry's year besides the ones we've met in the books? Be sure to check out the letter for the full list of questions.
Meanwhile, Rowling is a candidate for 2005's Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award
, one of the most prestigous accolades in children's literature. Thanks to Veritaserum
for the tip.

I wonder if she will answer the letter. She must get hundreds of letters everyday. What is different about this one? I hope that she does answer it though, its always great hearing about the background information, it helps bring the books to life a bit more.

The letter to jkr was really a good idea, but I would have asked different questions. I already assumed some things like Snape being a Slytherin and headboy and headgirl not having to be prefects (because of James). I also believe that it is stated somewhere in the books that Flitwick is the head of Ravenclaw. I thought the James seeker/chaser thing was strange, but I like to think of him as a seeker. It will be good to hear what JKR says about charlie weasley because I was pretty sure in the first book they said they had not won the quidditch cup in 7 years since Charlie Weasley and later they said he was only two years older than Percy.
