Alfonso Cuarón, director of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was quoted at the recent DVD launch party as saying that he would love to come back to director another Harry Potter.

From The Leaky Cauldronopens in new window:

Later on if I could I would love to come back and work on another Harry Potter film. It's a gift, it's a gift. It was one of the best years of my life, doing this film.

A reporter then asked him about his experience working with children:

I don't think they would appreciate you calling them children! They are teenagers, they are young adults, maybe. It's fantastic. They're amazing. It's an amazing group of actors. At this point they are such experienced actors, they are ... interacting with some of the best actors in life.

And on another note Variety is reportingopens in new window that Cuarón has signed a three-year, first-look production deal with Warner Brothers.

Jeff Robinov from Warner Bros. had this to say:

We had a wonderful experience with Alfonso on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and have been long-time admirers of his work. His deal will give us the opportunity to collaborate with Alfonso on movies that make the most of his artistry and vision and continue to offer him the mainstream worldwide audiences that our studio provides so successfully.

Does that mean we can hope to see Alfonso directing another Potter movie in the near future?

I'm not really sure how I feel about this. I think if he only comes and works on the set, not directs, it will be a great movie. However, I don't think I want him directing another Hp film.

Cuaron is good. But perhaps a new director will do evenmore good.
I would be very much content if my favourite directors is going to do the job, wheter Peter Jackson or Steven Spielberg (I know that Mr. Spielberg has already dropped the first movie, but I just don't give up with the idea)

YEY!!! I loved POA! It is my favorite book and movie! He did an amazing job and really captured the emotional aspect of the stor. It was actually a movie, not a mediocre film put together scene by scene. He put excellent transitions between sceens and made it into a wonderful film! Please come back!

Alfonso may be a "great director" but I did not like the look of the set of Hogwarts grounds. I also did not like the ponytail on and color of the new Dumblodore's beard. I know that it was most likely the actor's representation of Dumblodore but I think that had Chris been directing PoA, things would have looked better!

I think Alfonso did a great job on the third movie. I wish he could come back. He would be great for the fifth but they've already picked one. Darn. Maybe he can come back for the sixth or seventh.

I think alfonso did a very dissapointing job. I love PoA book and when I saw the movie... I though he would respect the story and he changed half of the important scenes.
I don't want him to destroy anymore good stories.
