Alfonso Cuarón, director of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was quoted at the recent DVD launch party as saying that he would love to come back to director another Harry Potter.
From The Leaky Cauldron
:
Later on if I could I would love to come back and work on another Harry Potter film. It's a gift, it's a gift. It was one of the best years of my life, doing this film.
A reporter then asked him about his experience working with children:
I don't think they would appreciate you calling them children! They are teenagers, they are young adults, maybe. It's fantastic. They're amazing. It's an amazing group of actors. At this point they are such experienced actors, they are ... interacting with some of the best actors in life.
And on another note Variety is reporting
that Cuarón has signed a three-year, first-look production deal with Warner Brothers.
Jeff Robinov from Warner Bros. had this to say:
We had a wonderful experience with Alfonso on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and have been long-time admirers of his work. His deal will give us the opportunity to collaborate with Alfonso on movies that make the most of his artistry and vision and continue to offer him the mainstream worldwide audiences that our studio provides so successfully.
Does that mean we can hope to see Alfonso directing another Potter movie in the near future?

That would be so awesome if Alfonso came back to direct another HP movie. "Prisoner of Azkaban" is by far the best of the movies so far. He gave Hogwarts a much darker feel that was so completely lacking in Columbus's work. Plus, he knows how to avoid sappy, pathetic endings (like "Chamber of Secrets"). Please sign him up!!!

I hope the contract will give him movies to direct that he is better at, not so much the Potter movies. I did not care much for his version of the third either, it lacked many facts. But of course that is only an opinion from my point of view. Congrats to Cuarón though!

I really wouldn't mind if he did the 4th film. I thought POA was amazing, and was actually the film that got me interesting in Harry Potter in the first place. :)

That would be okay I suppose- I would prefer Chris to come back, but the third movie isn't as bad as some movies I have seen.

I think it would be great if he came back. He puts his own spin on the movie and makes it his own. I wonder which one they would bring him back for?

Yay! I love Alfonso Cuaron! If he does another HP flick, then it might get a 4 star rating! (Did you know PoA was a 3.5 star movie?) We can only hope and petition to Warner Bros.

Wow, thats awesome. He did a good job on PoA, but wasn't quite acurate. I like how he really enjoys his co-workers and everyone on set. It is great that he respects them.

He;s a really good director.. I think he should come back. Although we should get new screen writers.. POA hardly follow the books at all!

I would seriusly boycott harry potter if he were to come back to do any more of them.
He totallly and completly ruined POA, and it was the 2nd best book so far, (GOF is best), if he were to do another one, 6 or 7, he could possibly ruin the ending of the series, and i would never forgive him for it.
Please, please, please, let this NOT happen.

sure, Alfonzo made the film entertaining, yet I think that he TOTALLY messed the movie up. I am glad he is not doing GoF, because that is my favorite book, so far, and I want the movie to be at least accurate.

Professor Grubbly-Plank says:
It would be nice for him to come back and direct another HP movie. He knows the cast and that will work for him. PoA needed to be made darker as the series starts getting darker. I am not sure Chris could have pulled that off. And remember JK Rowling has final say on things put in the movie. If she doesn't care then maybe we shouldn't either.

I'm torn as to how I feel about him directing another movie. I think that as far as the third movie goes, it was put together really well but I didn't care for how it was written.

Professor Scoots says:
I sure hope that he doesn't come back. While I liked the look of this film his clear cutting approach to all other aspects of the story beyond the "main" story-line as heavy handed and unnecessary. I would hope that future directors have the ability to include more into future movies. Potter fans deserve to see more on JKRs work brought to the screen.
