Harry Potter web site MuggleNet is reporting that the release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince may be announced in January 2005. MuggleNet states that they have received numerous tips from bookstores stating that they have been given memos warning them to expect a release date for book 6 to be announced in January 2005 and to be prepared for questions from the public.

The book world is abuzz with rumors that J.K. Rowling may announce the publication date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince soon. Our children's buyer tells us that we can expect an announcement sometime in January.

I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that it will prove to be true. I was thinking if they're going to announce it in Janurary, maybe JKR will surprise us on Christmas with a little present of the release date!

*Fingers Crossed* Please, oh please oh please!!!!! I hope this is true. I would so hate to have my hopes crushed yet again. ( I had, on Halloween, someone tell me that they had heard that HBP would be out on Dec. 5, 2004. Now while I knew that this couldn't possibly be true I still freaked and got on line immediately. I knew that if that were true HPANA would post it. I was crushed anyway, despite having known it wasn't true) So, pleeeeease be true. *Looks upwards & closes eyes*

Yow wow! I like the theories that the "Do Not Disturb" sign will be removed on JKR's site to reveal the release date for either a Christmas or New Years gift to us. I just cannot wait for HBP to be out! I am planning to do things right this time and head to Oak Park (HP hot-bed of the Chicago area) at midnight the day it's released to pick it up. It will be an event!

Wow, everyone is so excited just to get the announcement of the publishing date. This is crazy! I have never had to wait for a book before since I didn't start reading them til a month before OotP came out. I can't believe how hard it is! I can't even imagine what it was like waiting 3 years for book 5. If I was reading them all through college I would have lost track and given up. I am gratefull I didn't start the series until I was an unemployed college graduate with nothing to do.

I think the publishing date will be announced on Christmas Day, as it is one of Harry's favourite days of the year, and also it would be a nice christmas gift to her fans from Jo.
