The current issue of Premiere magazine has published the first picture we’ve seen of Miranda Richardson
in costume as Rita Skeeter
from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire which is currently filming.
According to the article
courtesy of MuggleNet:
Another year at Hogwarts, another director charge. As the first Englishman to direct a Potter flick, Mike Newell brings his own school days to bear as Harry faces not only his own fire-breathing dragons in the Triwizard Tournament but also his greatest challenge yet - the resurrection of Voldemort.
"This story is about the return of the being of evil," says Newell. "Harry is the vital ingredient for the potion which will bring Voldemort back." Like He-Who-Must Not-Be-Named, Daily Prophet hack Rita Skeeter makes her first appearance in this fourth installment of the series.
"She's completely brash and completely hateful," says Richardson, who likens Skeeter to 1930s gossip queen Hedda Hopper. "She's written the deal before she even gets there, really."

She looks just as I had imagined the character...That's the scene right before the first task when, for some reason, Hermione is there with the competitors.

Wow, she does make a good Rita Skeeter! Nice pic. I can't wait to see her in the movie! I hope they make her character as deplorable on film as she is in the books. I've heard that Miranda Richardson was really good in Phantom of the Opera, so I'm sure she will do justice to this part. They just can't leave out the acid green quill!!

She's such a great actress...and she looks great as Rita!
On a critical note: I wish that the press would stop discussing what happens at the end of the book! It will completely ruin the film and/or book for anyone who isn't familiar with the story. I don't understand why it has to be mentioned...the end happens. Yes, it changes the landscape of the story afterward, but what is the purpose of discussing it?

I think she looks a lot like Rita Skeeeter, she would probably be good as her with a little different touch of makeup of course.

Extendable Ears, do you really think the movies make sense to people who aren't familiar with the story anyway? That was my only real criticism of the third movie; it would have been so easy to include the scene in which Lupin explains that he, James, Sirius and Peter were animagi. . .yet without that scene, the entire sequence in which Sirius and Lupin reveal the truth about Peter to Harry makes little sense to viewers who are thinking logically.

To tell you all the truth that isn't how I pictured Rita Skeeter at all, but I'm sure she'll do a great job in GOF. I can't wait. I just sort of pictured someone more well bugish, like a woman that looked like a cross between a mosquito and beetle.

I would have thought Rita Skeeter to be more a brunette. And look more, flamboyant, with definitely a lot more height on Harry. But, I like seeing more pictures from GoF!
