A web site purporting to offer electronic versions of all five Harry Potter novels by JK Rowling, including the unreleased sixth book, has sprung up and is advertising online to fans through search engines and ad-supported sites like HPANA. We have received numerous e-mails about this issue in the past several days.
DO NOT place any orders with a site claiming to sell such rubbish. It should be noted that there are no authorized electronic text versions of the Potter books, period. The sixth, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is to be released July 16.
The Leaky Cauldron reported
yesterday that after submitting an order on the site -- which will remain unnamed -- a message was returned stating that credit card processing was unsuccessful (after card numbers were already collected and presumably stored).
HPANA has contacted the site's web host to inform them of the illegal nature of their client's site. Rowling and/or her representatives have no doubt already been alerted to the situation. It's highly likely we'll hear something official very soon, in the form of a message from Jo on her web site
, or through one of her representatives.
UPDATE: According to BBC News
the web site in question has been closed down.

Pingu, that would be my oh so beautiful Dominic Monaghan! Mmmmm mmmm. He played Merry in Lord of the Rings and now stars in Lost as a washed-up (uh no pun intended) bassist for the band Drive Shaft.

My friend bought into a similar scam but she cancelled her credit card. She got scared when I emailed her this article and said the best thing to do would be to just get a different card just in case. It's horrible that people out there are that base and diluted. It's very sad when that's all they have to do in their lives.

It's unfortunate what people will do for a little money. The real sad thing is that a whole lot of Harry Potter fans are children, who probably begged their parents for the e-books, with their hopes up of getting HBP. I hope the parents were smart enought not to fall for it. I hope those responsible get what they have coming, a whole lot of trouble!

I hope no one believed that because JK Rowling would never allow anything like that to happen. She wants us all to be wow-ed and amazed at the same time.

This is just so plain stupid. I cannot decide which is worse - the people who do such lowly things to get some money or the people who get dooped by them.

you people are such hippocrites. blah blah blah, book released on 16th july, blah blah blah. look, if you got yourself a real copy of the manuscript, you wouldn't read it? Bull, is my reply if someone said no. people are exploiting other peoples greed. its been happening for hundreds if not thousands of years. get over it. you get exploited everyday. if you dont like this fact, go and live in a cave. thats my view put across, if you have a problem with this, dont hesitate to answer me, im quite happy to have a heated discussion over this point. and i will win.

Anyone who actually thought that you could get book 6 before the release date would have to be the biggest idiot on earth. Oh, and by the way, DurmStrang, that isn't Dominic Monaghan, it is Elijah Wood, who played Frodo in The Lord of the Rings.

I am perfectly aware of who is on my avatar. At the time of the question I did have Dominic Monaghan on my avatar, I have since changed it. Actually, I changed it about 3 days ago. I know who Frodo is and I am certainly aware of who Dominic Monaghan is. Thank you though, for keeping me in "the know" when it comes to pop culture.
