In an interview with British newspaper The Express, Julie Waltersopens in new window (Mrs. Weasley) from the Harry Potter movies confirmsopens in new window that she will not be making an appearance in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Ms. Walters discusses her feelings about not being in the movie:

To be honest, I was a bit hurt not to be in it. The kids love the Harry Potter films so much and I get lots of mail about it. I can understand why they've had to pare down the film as the book is so long but I am really hoping I'll be in again for the next one.

Cassandra Ravenclaw says:

*sniff* No Julie Walters?
There are just certain things we EXPECT from these movies:
Mrs. Weasley chewing out her kids--- I ROLL on the floor laughing at that.... just like my Mom used to do!
Dudley getting it.... hope they didn't cut out the Ton-toungue-toffee in GOF. (more rolling on the floor)
Prof Snape teasing Harry... in his Suave, cool, and handsome, fashion.
Harry winning the Quiditch match.
More of Hagrid's "pet-projects".
Thinking McGonagall is going to chew Harry out, but ends up helping him (with a little wink).
The twins and their wit........ we need MORE of that by the way!
and Dumbledores enlightening explanation at the end.
Oh.... and Draco getting his just deserts! *snicker*- sorry Tom. :)

Man, they're taking EVERYTHING out, aren't they? Jeez, that's so crazy, I mean, I can understand taking otu bits and pieces for the time issue, but cutting out an entire character? I don' see how that can work!

Cassandra Ravenclaw says:

Thanks to the magic of *Hollywood* even though these are filmed in the UK.

The first book (Sorcerors Stone-- or the UK version The Philosophers stone) is 309 pages long... The 5 edition volume in the US...
The CoS is 341pages.
The PoA is 435 pgs. (lots altered and deleted out of the movie compared to the book)
The Goblet of Fire is 734 pgs.
And Order of the Phoenix is 820.
Unless they make 2 movies of each on the last 2 books... the movie viewers had BETTER read the books. They have to make VERY INFORTUNATE cuts somewhere.
I hate the idea as much as you.

Oh I'd be so disapointed if I was her. I'd want to be included because the 4th book is the best book, or so I think. Hm.. This goes to show, what parts in the book are being cut. The whole first dursly part (no exploding chimney), also no dursleys picking up harry in the end. No burrow scene with molly, or with molly talking about the dress robes with ron, maybey no bill and molly viseting harry and making him feel like he has a family before the 3rd task. Oh and molly won't meet sirius at the end of the film.

This is horrible, She really is taking an all right take on it though, saying she wants to come back for the next one, but I guess who wouldn't want to right?
Anyways, I wish WB would just come to thier senses and realize we want a 6 hour long movie, so they don't need to cut anything. The people who want short movies have had thier go, and now it is ours. They have the budget so why wont they do it? I hate to make this comparrison, but look how well Lord of the Rings did.

I am very upset the Mrs. Weasley is gone from film four. Granted I understand that they can't keep all the characters, but she has such and important relationship with Harry as his surrogate mother. She will have to be in Order... they have to have the seen with the boggart in Sirius' house because that must foreshadow more than Mr. Weasley's attack.

I thought Mrs Weasely was an important character at the end of book 4...she comforted harry like a mother. It also gives the Mrs Weasely a direct tie to book 5. Oh well

Oh no, she's not going to be in the film?! Makes me wonder what parts of the book they cut out if they didn't include her. How can Harry stay at the Burrow before the Quidditch Cup if she's not around? And she won't be there to give support to Harry during the last task and after? That's so sad. And Ms. Walters was quite good in the role too.

Thats the only thing i hate about the films, they miss out so much of the books. Yeah i know that if they used the whole book it would be about 5 hours long but still they shouldnt miss out some of the really welcoming characters who make the films more inviting. I've just realised i wouldnt be bothered if the films were 5 hours long, at least i wouldnt be bored all day!!!!!!!!! Hurry up July 16th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
