In May 2004, the U.S. Army's official Preventive Maintenance Monthly, a cartoon magazine that instructs soldiers how to take care of their military equipment, published a humourous eight-page spoof of the Harry Potter world.
Army officials visit Mogmorts and learn from Professor Rumbledoore and his staff about proper maintenance techniques for magical gear, including brooms, wands and cauldrons (tip: "PM" in the cartoon stands for "preventive maintenance"):
Many thanks to Army weekend reservist Greg for sending us a copy last year, and sorry for taking so long to post!
UPDATE: This has now become the focus of a possible copyright infringement charge by JK Rowling's representatives and Warner Bros. against the U.S. Army. We'll keep you posted.

This seems really funny! Although I've been on vacation for a few days and I see on another headline that Jo isn't happy about this... I'm going to go check out that article!

Sorry, but I didn't really get some of it...I don't really get the whole Rumbledoore thing, and why that is so funny, can somebody explain that to me? And yeah, that is pretty much the only problem I had with that, I thought the rest was pretty funny. I'm hope the soldiers got a laugh out of that. They need lots of laughs.

Wow, reading that stuff made me laugh. They were quite creative (or were they?) in how they manipulated everyone's names.... interesting.

Its nice to see some stuff about harry potter in a comic! That would be awsome to have a comic of harry potter! Though, nothing can truly beat the book in my opinion.
Funny!

Oh well, it's just a spoof (even nicely done) - they shouldn't sue them just for this, that's really unnecessary. Lots of fanfic writers use the characters and their *real* names as well...
that's just bad PR for Jo...

Uh, ok. That's kinda sad. I like most of the names, though "Longshanks" is kinda bad. "Topper": uh, sure I guess. "Ranger": couldn't they try just a little harder?? I'm rather disappointed. But I do think that Profs. Snappy and Rumbleroore are funny!

OK, that wasn't really as funny as claimed, but it was cute, and it was blisteringly obvious. So. JK should get some bucks from it. Use her framework, characters, and locations, and you pay the fees. Simple.

I didn't understand some parts of it, but it was okay. The names were very strange...I didn't really like them, especially Ranger. It made Granger sound like a guy. The name that was funny was Snappy...it fits Snape!

Senefra says:
I thought it was very funny, especially some of the characters expressions and name variations (Rumbledoor, Snappy, etc.). The artist may be Ernie Colon, and if no one recongnizes the name, that's because he's most remembered for his work on the '80s DC comic series "Amethyst: Princess of the Gemworld".
If so, it's quite apt since the dimensions/worlds that series is set in, as well as some of the characters, have connections to Tim Hunter, a Vertigo mage character co-created by Neil Gaiman("Sandman", "Hellblazer") who had at least three series, "Hunter: The Books of Magic", "Hunter: The Names of Magic" & "Hunter: The Age of Magic". Hunter is often compared to the Harry Potter because they both share similar characteristics and stories, although Hunter was created years before Rowling even began on Potter.
